Setting Yourself Straight for a Lifetime Goal

When most of us were kids, there were always those things we would say about us wanting to be something once we grew up. Now for those of us that had that potential dream to be a fireman, or a policeman, or even an astronaut for some, what changed in us that made us decide not to do those things?

For many of us, while growing up we face the hardships that life can throw at us that distract us from becoming who we want to be. These things can be relationships, school, (and the buzz killer for me) money. Now but when it comes time to think back and reminisce on why we changed, we realize that all that these were, was distractions. But even so its still never too late to do what you want. I'm going to give you three examples of things that things i do.

1: Start Early! its always a good thing to start early on advancing in on what you want. Now there's a thing that is said by many wise people, and thats to put in your "10,000 hours". Now w hat that means is that after devoting 10,000 hours to something you are most likely said to become an expert in that area. For example, for those that don't know, bboying is the correct term for what many know as break-dancing. now if i put 10,000 hours into bboying, its obvious i would have to have achieved some incredible level of skill. the same can be done in any area.

2: Study and Practice! Now putting in as much time as you want into that field is a great thing, you also need to dedicate yourself to studying what that field is about. If you want to be a fireman there are crucial things that you need to know including, what the pension for a retired firefighter is, a years salary, and whats left behind for your family in the event that something happens to you. You also need to train and be strong to be a firefighter. Thats where the practice part comes in, practice makes perfect like we all know.

3: Put Yourself First! Now this can be under looked by many people, because it isn't the easiest thing to do for some. Now its a nice thing to have people help you out, and rely on them, while they rely on you, but this can also led to things coming in between you and what you really want. Now I'm not saying not to have friends or people to depend on, because i love my friends more than anything. it's just that they can also distract you in life. Trust me any real friend of yours will let you follow your dreams regardless. Now if i wanna become a computer engineer in the future, and i know I'm trying to put in 10,000 hours into that field, i should be able to rely on my friends to allow me to cut a bit of our hang out time so that i can study up on what a computer engineer needs to do to be successful. Remember, "Birds of a Feather, Flock Together" so watch the "Company you Keep". If you show that initiative to be successful your friends will to!

Now these are just three tips that i value that help me keep my head in the right direction. I will write more in sometime in the near future.
