Seven Days

Many people ask the question of the earth's age. How many articles have been written? I can't begin to explain much. However, in an attempt to use the Bible, I shall place an answer before your eyes and mine... Of course, before entering an answer, I must first say that I am assuming that every word in the Bible is literal in reference to times, genealogies, and dates. This would mean starting with Genesis and saying that the earth was created in seven days. I will call that time zero year.

Using the Genealogy from Adam to Noah, the first one thousand fifty six years have happened. At age 130, Adam had Seth. When Seth turned 105, he begat Enosh. Enosh was given Kenan at age 90. Kenan had Mahalel at age 70. Jared was born of Mahalel during Mahalel's 65^th year. Jared had Enoch at age 162. At age 65, Enoch had Methuselah. Methuselah had given birth to Lamech at age 187. When Lamech turned 182 he was given Noah which all gives us the grand total of 1056 years.

"29Now he called his name Noah, saying, 'This one will give us rest from our work and from the toil of our hands arising from ^(A)the ground which the LORD has cursed.' 30Then Lamech lived five hundred and ninety-five years after he became the father of Noah, and he had other sons and daughters. 31So all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, and he died. 32Noah was ^(B)five hundred years old, and Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth." (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%205:29-32;&version=49;) The underlined portion shows that Noah was 500 years old when he had become the father of his three sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The time of Noah to Shem was 500 years, and the new grand total is 1556 years of age not counting zero year (7 days).

From there, I will go into the time added from Shem to Abram (Abraham). From Shem to Arphaxad was 100 years. Arphaxad son was Shelah at age 35. Shelah birthed Eber at age 40. When Eber was 30 Peleg was born. Peleg was given Reu at age 32. During Reu's 30^th year Serug was born. At age 29, Serug had Nahor. When Nahor was 29, he had Terah. Abraham was born when Terah was 70 years old. This information can be found in Genesis chapter 11 verse 27. From Shem to Abram were 390 years. The grand total is now 1946 years.

When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to him. There are some good stories with Isaac, but I will not go into any of them now. Interesting side notes to look at when you get a chance would be the descendants of Ishmael in Genesis chapter 25 verses 12-18. For my purposes, we must stay on track with Genesis chapter 25 verses 19-34. The most important thing to remember from this section for this read is that Isaac was sixty years old when he had Jacob (Israel). From Abraham to Israel the amounts of years were 160 years. The new grand total is 2106 years.

This is where it gets harder to trace everything. However, according to the study bible chronologies scholars show that Jacob dies at age 147. Moses was born 333 years after Jacob dies. Moses dies at 120 years old. After Moses dies, Samuel is born 301 years later. Fifty-five years later, Saul enters the biblical scope of recorded history. Historically, from 1050 BC, where Saul enters recorded history, to 37 BC where Herod then enters recorded history dying in 4 BC is a total of 1046 years (956 yrs +1046 yrs + 3 yrs). From Herod's death in 4 BC, up to 6 AD, when the Roman procurators begin rule are about 10 years. Christ was born around 6/5 BC... Adding these years together you get a total of 2005 years to 2106 years which makes the first year 4111 BC. We are in 11/2007 BC. This means the world and our existence is 6117.9167 years and 7 days old +/- a year.

God had made the world in seven days. If any man is Christian says it is impossible, then I would ask that man if they understand God's ability to have a virgin birth and raise the dead. From Adam to Noah is 1056 years. From Noah to Abram was 890 years. One hundred and sixty years had passed from Abraham to Israel. Tracking chronology, you get about 2005 or 2006 years added to the equation. With us being in 11/2007, the calculation becomes this: 7 Days + 1056 YRS + 890 YRS + 160 YRS + 2005 +/- 1 YR + 2006 YRS + 11/12 YRS = 6117 ¹¹/₁₂+7 DAYS ⁺/_- 1 YR. So many people may say that the earth is much older than this. "4.55 billion years (plus or minus about 1%)." (According to http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/faq-age-of-earth.html) The bible does not say that though. The view of the earth being such an old age is based off of theoretical methods of science you find in the link in this paragraph. The age I have looked at and counted is based off of careful study of the bible and the timelines of significant events with significant deaths added to the current date and month. Which has more fact, and which is more tangible? I leave you to make your own decision.
