Identity theft is something that people don't take serious enough in the world today. Identity theft can happen to anyone out there in the world due to ways the crime occurs that the victim doesn't think about. Here are seven types of identity theft.
The Loan Thief
A thief that has bad credit or perhaps running from the law will attempt to take out loans in your name. The different types of loans can be credit cards, payday small loans against equipment in your house that you own, and small loans done over the computer. Credit cards can be obtained within a few weeks.
Fake Accounts
The thief may open fake accounts across the United States using your credit at some places that don't report to the credit beau unless they happen to default. Bills that are paid on time such as power, internet, and phone can often be used under your own name for several years undetected in small time companies.
Bank Accounts
Bank accounts can be opened up at small banks undetected across the United States as long as the bank account is kept in good standing. The thief may not write bad checks, but simply just needs a new start in life with a new name for whatever reason. Some of them might cash payroll checks in your name at payday loan places. Some bank accounts may be opened online without ever stepping inside of a bank.
A New State Equals A New ID
A thief that simply wants a new name for themselves may go to different states to get their picture taken using all of your personal information to acquire a legit new id card from the state. They can change their appearance a little bit to match the age of your birth certificate and use your social security card as id.
The new id often goes unnoticed for several months or years if they are just using it to run from the law or don't bounce bad checks all over the place. They sometimes use your name on payroll stubs under their new fake name.
The most easy target for identity theft is someone that has never obtained a ID before or barely 18 years old because they have nothing hardly established.
A Fake Library Card
A person can use a fake employee id badge in your name to obtain a library card. They can obtain library cards in nearly every place in the United States as long as they do it right each time without any errors. The person is usually a whiz at making up an address to make it seem more legit.
Fake Apartment Lease
They can get into a legit apartment lease that is really fake. It enables them to live under a different name hidden away from everyone. The person can live under a fake name in a fake apartment lease undetected across the United States for a long time.
Travel Reservations
This is a interesting one. Some people have been known to use the new identity to make travel reservations. They don't their real name to show up anywhere on airplanes, buses, and shuttles. They try to keep a low profile so therefore they don't want to show up on the radar anywhere. They will often go unnoticed by authorities if they are wanted by the law since they are using a new identity that is legit at this point.
