Seven Points About Lebron James

Jacob Horn
I know that I am a little late to this party but here we go. I have had a few days to sleep since Lebron James made his big choice and my feelings from that night have not changed much. Here are a few points I want to make.

1. It was cocky to announce his decision the way he did. Believe it or not, I feel the positives outweigh the negatives.

2. Athletes not only can help the community with their financial resources but what Lebron did should be copied. I did a blog regarding Tiger Woods comeback a few weeks ago and how I wish he would have come back at the St. Jude golf tournament in Memphis because of the attention it would have brought to a great institution. You can say a lot of bad things about 'The Decision' but a lot of good will come about because of the way Lebron did it, nevermind the money he raised for the Boys and Girls Club.

3. I was really turned off by the fact that he did not call the Cavaliers himself to tell them he would not be coming back. It was like he broke up with his girlfiend of seven years through a phone call from a friend.

4. Charles and Michael do not approve but this blogger does. Yes, Lebron will go down in history as the guy who could not win a title withouth major support but if he wins 3 or 4 titles that will be a mute point.

5. For years I have waited on an athlete to join forces with other major stars in order to win a title. I always said that if I was a star and could not win a title I would call my buddies and say lets team up and dominate. Good for Lebron, Dwyane, and Chris for doing just that.

6. I felt really bad for Cleveland. I was actually pulling for Lebron to stay there and had he I would have undoubtedly become a huge fan of the Cavaliers.

7. I might be a bigger fan now. Was Dan Gilbert's response appropriate? No. It was nice to see a big time figure show genuine emotion. This guy seems to truly care about his town and franchise.

Again, sorry I am late but I wanted to go forward with this anyways.
