1) All -Time Career Scoring Average Leader at 30.1 Points per game
Scoring is an important stat in the NBA. Michael Jordan "retired with the NBA's highest scoring average of 30.1 ppg" during the regular season according to NBA.com. Jordan achieved this by setting an NBA record by winning ten scoring championships. Among those ten scoring titles MJ won "seven consecutive" tying Wilt Chamberlain's record.
2) All-Time Playoff Scoring Average Leader at 33.4 Points Per Game
Scoring in the regular season is important; however being able to score in the playoffs is more impressive. The combination of the two truly makes Michael Jordan one of the elite players to have played in the NBA. According to NBA.com Michael Jordan is the All-Time playoff scoring champion averaging 33.4 points per game. Almost four points ahead of Allen Iverson who is second on the list.
3) Six Championship Rings
Stats are one thing. However, winning a Championship pushes players from the very good and the talented to the great side. Winning six NBA titles certainly adds to Michael Jordan's legacy. Being named "Six-time NBA Finals MVP" really puts an explanation point on a great career.
4) "Five-time NBA MVP"
More important than scoring titles for players are winning the Most Valuable
Player Award. Winning five MVP Awards qualifies Michael Jordan as a dominate player during his tenure in the NBA. The Chicago Bulls would not have won all those championships without Michael Jordan. Jordan was more than a great scorer and a spectacular dunker.
5) Michael Jordan Could Play Defense
The Championships, the scoring titles, and the MVP Awards show Michael
Jordan was a basketball player who found a way to help his team win. Playing defense is important to winning championships and MJ could play defense. Jordan was named nine times to the "NBA All-Defensive First Team." MJ also won "Defensive Player of the Year" once.
6) Great Players are All-Stars
Great players are recognized as All-Stars. Michael Jordan was a "14-time NBA
All- Star." In addition Jordan was a "three-time NBA All-Star MVP." Michael was a "ten-time All-NBA First Team" player.
7) Be a Rookie of The Year
Few players get to be named Rookie of the Year, in most sports only one is named a year. However, Michael Jordan made a career of getting awards only one player is awarded. MJ started winning awards after his first season in the NBA. Along MJ career he collected quite a bit of hardware to prove he was among the best if not the best player.
