Seven Simple Ways for a Busy Woman to De-Stress - Try 'em!

Do you ever wish you could find a way to relax? Are you over-stressed from work or busy home-life, and just need some quiet time for yourself so you can unwind? The best way to ensure you have quiet time is to actually schedule time for yourself. And don't let anything take that time away from you. Make time to de-stress and do something you enjoy. Put thoughts of work and home completely out of your mind and have some fun, even if it's just for a short time.

But what kinds of things can a super-busy woman do to unwind? Well, there's always the option for a massage once or twice a month. Massages are a fabulous way to treat yourself. When done correctly, a massage will leave you feeling calm, relaxed and ready to take on the world again.

You could also join a yoga class for nearly the same effect as a massage. A daily yoga session not only relaxes you, it also tones and strengthens your muscles. If you can't find a yoga class near you, buy a DVD and do your own sessions at home. Or, pick up a good yoga book and follow the diagrams in the book. Taking a class with a trained yoga instructor is highly recommended though. At least until you know the positions and can do them correctly.

If yoga classes and massages are out of the question, go for a relaxing walk. Set your own pace. If you want to add a bit of a cardio workout, then pick up the pace a bit, but if you're trying to make it relaxing, then set a leisurely pace and enjoy the scenery. If you live in the city and need a quiet place to walk, find a park or a school that has a track. Another option is a nearby shopping mall - that's a great place to go walking when it's raining. And who knows, you may find a bargain or two. Shopping always makes me feel better.

Do you have young kids? Take them to the park and play with them for an hour or so. That's a great way to unwind and have fun doing it. Don't you find you enjoy yourself more when you're doing something for someone else? The kids will love the extra attention and you'll reap the benefits.

Some people enjoy cooking and find that it relaxes them. Or you could sit down and read a good book for an hour or so. Or take a long hot bath with lots of bubbles, candles and soft music. Or rent your favorite movie and watch it with a big bowl of popcorn.

Of course, if you have a family, you may not be able to find the time for a long hot bath. Or your hour of reading time may end up being interrupted by kids needing you for this or that. But there are ways to let the kids in on the fun. Have a "family reading hour" where everyone sits and reads. Or how about a family movie night or a family game night? The possibilities are endless, just use your imagination. Above all - make time to relax and have fun!
