Myth #1 If you want your hair to grow faster get it trimmed more often.

Truth: Your hair grows at it's own speed. It certainly does not depend on how often you trim it. All trimming it does is to make your hair look neater by getting rid of split ends. Still many women go in because they have been told hair grows faster that way.

Myth #2: Stressful living and hair loss are directly related.

If the truth be told we constantly lose hair daily. Whether we are stressed out or not. On an average a person will lose between 45 to 125 hairs each and every day. Sure you might lose a few more if you're stressed. But unless you find yourself pulling your hair out by the roots, it's all going to grow back!

Myth #3: You will damage your hair by coloring it.

Truth: That's crazy! Were that true most stylists would be out of work. Coloring is safe as long as you follow the instructions to the letter. It also helps to use gentle coloring products not to mention shampoos and conditioners meant specifically for colored hair. In fact it's good to use extra conditioner every time you wash your colored hair.

Myth #4: Permed hair is oh so 1960s.

Truth: No longer solely the domain of the blue haired set perms have made a come back. Advances let stylists simulate naturally curly hair leaving those taking the perm plunge with an all new and sexy look. Besides the obsession with straight hair can leave you exhausted. In that light the natural look of permed hair can save you time and free you for other pursuits. Many find they just wash it and walk out the door.

Myth #5: Cold water rinsing guarantees shiny hair.

Truth: This is not one of the tips for healthy hair. Cold water rinsing doesn't make hair shiny - it just makes you cold. As long as you avoid extremely hot water, which is damaging, to wash your hair, it really does not matter how cold the rinse water is.

Myth #6: Brushing your hair 100 strokes promotes healthier hair.

Truth: That is a really famous myth that's been passed down from mother to daughter. You will see it mentioned in hair care books too. But you probably never want to brush your hair except to style it. Over brushing like this will only weaken and damage your hair.
