One skill you have to have in order to become a stock car racer is the ability to take unfortunate accidents and keep going. You need to know that in stock car racing, there is a good chance you will wreck, so having the ability to crash into things and keep going is needed. Stock car racing and accidents go together very well and if you are not one who likes wrecking into everything then I would suggest another hobby.
You also need to be a little bit of a dare-devil because stock car racing involves a lot of tricks and risks associated with it. If you are scared all the time or never are open to new possibilities then you should not invest your time into stock car racing. Being a dare-devil will help you succeed in stock car racing because it will allow you to take those risks and handle them in the right manner. You can think of being a dare-devil as someone who knows the risks associated with something but yet does not care about the outcome.
You also must not care for your family and friends who might be grieving for you if something bad happens. When you stock car race, there is a good chance you could die eventually from an accident. You should not have any consideration for those around you and only think about yourself. If you are married or have children, do not care what they think or feel about you stock car racing because they do not matter. If you do not have the ability to be unconcerned about the family you will leave behind when you have an accident and die then stock car racing is not for you.
You should also be self-centered and arrogant if you want to become a stock car racer. Being arrogant will help you when you are going fast and taking those tight curves around the track. You must be self-centered also during the race around the track and think of no other race car driver but yourself. If you are self-centered it also means you do not care how you win as long as you find a way to win. Being self-centered and arrogant are great skills to have for stock car racing because you will be able to find happiness only in your success and you will know there is no other driver as good as you are.
Being a lead-foot is also a great skill to possess if you want to become a stock car racer. Lead-foot is a term that is given to someone who excessively goes over the speed limit and who really has no concern over the possibility of an accident or injuries that could happen. Having a lead-foot is not always a bad thing because when you are stock car racing you need to be able to put that pedal down to the metal and fast. Being a lead-foot on the highway might get you a ticket, but in stock car racing this is a must.
Being disrespectful to the automobile you are in is also a needed trait of a stock car racer. You should not care about the car you are in or what it looks like, because chances are it will not stay that way. You should have no appreciation for the car and the fact that car holds your life in its hand. Do not worry about scratches or dents in the car or if it has enough leg room, just hop in the stock car and race. Disrespect the stock car and slam it into the track or hit another car with the front fender, it does not matter as long as you disrespect the car as much as you can. You can not have an appreciation for the inner or outer appearance of the stock car if you want to become a good stock car driver. If you care about the stock car even a little, it could mess up your chances of winning the race because you will be too scared to get it banged up.
You must also not worry about getting severely burned by the car when it catches on fire during a race. When you stock car race and hit a wall or flip the car you most likely will cause a fire. Fires can be a bad thing and the flames can be intense but do not worry about that. If you hit a wall and the car catches on fire you can not be worried about the possibility of getting burned or inhaling smoke, you need to focus on winning that stock car race. If you are scared of getting burned or scared of inhaling smoke then you will not be able to focus your attention on speeding and doing what it takes to win the race. You should always approach the situation as if it would never happen to you and not think about the possibility of fire ever again. If you can get your mind away from the chances of the car catching on fire when it wrecks, you will be a successful stock car racer.

I think it also helps if you mumble when you talk, blame everyone else for your losses and have a blond female companion.
