Seven Ways to Earn Extra Money

Lauren Romano
Most people strive to live comfortably and have enough money coming in to do so. Unfortunately, sometimes the paycheck from a job may not be enough to pay the bills, save, and actually do different activities. If you want to make some extra money, you can try quite a few things. While it may not be a substantial amount, it can be enough to give you some pocket money or provide you with the availability to start saving for something you really want.

Earn extra money by selling your clutter

Almost everyone has something in their home that they can sell. Whatever you have, you can most likely find someone else that wants to buy it. Take a sweep through your home and put everything you do not want into a basket. If you have enough, have a yard sale and if you do not, start posting the items on Craigslist or eBay.

Earn extra money by visiting a market research company

I have done this and made quite a few dollars for giving my opinion. There are plenty of market research companies that pay you $5 and up for each product you sample or set of opinions you give. While this may not seem like a lot of money, it can add up even if you devote forty-five minutes at the business. Many research companies also hold focus groups where, in some cases, you can make around $100 for an hour.

Earn extra money by becoming a dog walker

Many people do not have the time to walk their dogs as often as the animals need to be. In some cases, the owner gets sick or has an emergency and cannot take the dog out at all. In order to be a dog walker, you have to be responsible, patient and can handle all types of dogs extremely well. You can work through an established dog walking business or advertise your own services. Not only can you make some money, but it can be some great exercise as well.

Earn extra money by teaching a language

If you are fluent in a language, consider teaching it to others that want to learn it. It requires patience and most likely a couple of days a week, but you can make extra money off your skill and help someone else.

Earn extra money by babysitting

Wherever you live, you will most likely be able to find a babysitting job. To increase your chances of getting hired, take CPR and first aid courses. You have to have patience and the ability to get along with children and keep them safe. Knowing how to keep them occupied will not hurt either. Advertise your qualifications and your availability and you may be able to make a few extra dollars

Earn extra money by tutoring

If you graduated college with a degree in a specific field, consider tutoring in that subject or one that is similar. For example, if you graduated with a degree in finance, offer to tutor high school and elementary school students in math. The knowledge you have from your degree can help you to get a little more money in your pocket.

Earn extra money by delivering pizza

If you have a car, a good driving record and available time many pizza places will be willing to hire you. It is a good job for people that do not mind driving a lot and running from the car to the door and back in bad weather. You can make good tips and may be able to get some free food as well.

To earn even a little extra money may not require a lot of your time, however, the more time you devote the more money you can earn. It never hurts to have a few extra dollars going into your wallet. Especially in a tough economy, every little bit helps.

I agree with Michael-write for AC. The only problem with teaching a language on Long Island, is that there are about 20 other people doing the same thing...Teach a rare language--well i call it rare because you might not find it in the college or high school classroom, like Irish Gaelic, Cantonese, or languages classified as dead--Latin or Manchurian. Good Article.

Glad I don't need to do any of these jobs. Thanks though I am sure others will use this and help in these hard times.

Oh, yes, and write for AC!
