Seven Ways to Indulge in Beauty for Less

Making Your Nails, Hair and Face Look Great on a Budget

Beauty treatments not only improve your appearance, but are also a nice way to increase your confidence or lift your spirits. Nevertheless, in the current economy, many women are trying to trim costs without sacrificing their appearance. Here are some easy ideas to trim a few dollars off the cost while you still pamper yourself.

1. If you shop around, you are likely to find a salon that can do the same job cheaper. In your hometown, the savings may be only a few dollars, but if you are vacationing or live in a resort area, sometimes you can save more than ten or fifteen dollars by using a salon in a local shopping center instead of at a hotel or resort.

2. If your goal is mainly to have your nails look neat and well polished, consider opting for a polish change instead of a manicure. Many salons file and buff your nails before applying polish. Your nails will have that freshly polished appearance inexpensively.

3. If you want a pedicure, explore the different types offered by your salon. Some salons discount pedicures on slower days of the week. Often pedicures last considerably longer than manicures because you do not use your toenails with the same frequency as your fingernails. If the day of the week does not matter, choose the service on a day when it is cheaper.

4. Decide whether you really need a full pedicure. Many salons offer mini or express pedicures that still pamper your feet, but are ten or more dollars cheaper. Your nails will still look and feel beautiful.

5. If you are wedded to your stylist, there still may be ways to save money without switching salons. If you visit for weekly blow outs and flat iron styles, consider blow drying your hair yourself. You can have the stylist flat iron your dry hair.

6. If you are not having your hair cut for a particular outing, ask if you can blow dry it yourself. Some salons will let you use their dryers.

7. If you are willing to experiment with stylists, contact a local beauty school in your area. Sometimes schools have salons or are seeking clients so students can perfect their skills. You can enjoy facials, hair cuts and other beauty treatments at significant discounts.
