With a declining economy and a depleting ozone layer, there are ways that we can conserve to save money. We should consider conserving on electricity and there are ways to go about doing that. From your home to the sky, you can help the environment and your pocket book.

#1 Have You Thought About Going Solar? Yes solar electricity is becoming quite popular. First of all it is cheaper then electricity. Not to mention you are able to help the environment as well.

#2 Keep it Clean - Take the time to clean the coils in the air conditioner. Make sure that you change out the filter in the house. Clean dust from the ducts perventing them from getting clogged up.

#3 Seal it Off - It is good to make sure that all of the windows have been sealed off so that air can't escape through the sides of the windows. You can also put tint on the windows to keep the bright sun from shining really bright in the house. Plus it keeps the cool air in.

#4 Turn the Air off At Night - By the time the night gets here it is cool enough to turn the air off. You can turn the air conditioner completely off so that you conserve on energy. If you do get hot at night, you can use fans. This will conserve the electricity and help with your overall bill.

#5 Unplug It - Your appliances should be unplugged unless they are being used. Another good way to save on electricity is to use a power strip because you are able to send the same voltage through many streams of wire verses one per.

#6 Use Battery Operated Equipment - When and if possible use battery operated equipment verses electrical equipment. There are a few things that can be used by batteries, like alarm clocks for one. If you use a lot of appliances or tools, try to use batteries or at least unplug after each use.

#7 The Fridge - The refridgerator is one of the appliances that uses the most electricity. There are ways that you can eliminate the cost to run it. For one keep it at the correct temperature. Cool hot food before you store it in the fridge.

We should all be mindful of conserving electricity. I am so glad to have nice energy efficient windows. They make a world of difference. I can turn my central unit off at night, even in the winter. They came at a hefty price, but in the long run, they will save a lot of money and energy.

I do all but the one on appliances. Putting them on a power strip would make it easier to turn and off the electric supple as well as send the same voltage. Great idea!
