The Seven Year Old Latarian Milton is Back in the News After He Beats Up His Grandmother Over Chicken Wings

The seven year old Latarian Milton is back in the news again. Latarian gained both national and international attention after stealing his grandmother's SUV and going on a destructive "hood rat" mission with a friend. By the time he was done several cars were damaged and his grandmother's SUV was totaled. Since then Latarian seemed to be back on the right track, appearing on the news apologizing for the damage he had done.

According to Latarian's grandmother, Vikkita Stratford, the seven year old beat her up while they were out shopping at the Lake Park Walmart. In a fit of rage the seven year old began punching and kicking Stratford wherever his little arms and legs could reach. What prompted the seven year to fly off into a fit of rage, apparently chicken wings.

Stratford, said the problem began when Milton asked for some chicken wings. After the grandmother refused to get the chicken wings, the seven year old took matters into his own hands and went to the counter and ordered them anyway. When she confronted him about his behavior, Milton just "snapped" and began attacking her. "He just started hitting me -- just started hitting me in front of the whole Wal-Mart. Every one in there was upset," the visibly shaken Stratford said.

The grandmother expressed to Ted White of WPBF News that she believed the problems originate with Latarian's parents:

"I know what causes the behavior, cause all he's ever seen was his parents do physical and abusive and verbal things, and I don't want him to continue in this direction so I'm doing the best I can to get him the help"

Later that day the River Beach police picked up the seven year old to take him to a local hospital for a mental evaluation. His grandmother also expressed concern as to what would happen once young Latarian returns home. In addition to worrying about her grandson's well being the grandmother also expressed that she has to hide the keys to her rental car from Latarian, who asked her to take it for a spin.

If it wasn't clear to us before this seven year old needs a lot fo help and attention, hopefully after his mental evaluation there will be some definite answers or maybe even some treatments to help get this young boy back on track.

  • It was clear that Latarian's behavior is being influenced by what he is seeing.
  • Hopefully the 72 hour mental evaluation will provide some real answers and solutions.
  • How many other Latraians are out there that don't make it to the news?
It hasn't even been a month and Latarian Milton is back in the news and back in trouble again.

Intervention, help, and putting him into the system are probably good ideas. The poor little guy needs some help. First thing I would do is to put him with someone that can hold him down until he calms down.

You are correct Dr Jamie, my wife did point something out to me the other day, she asked me who did the boys parents learn their behavior from...one of them is the grandmother's child, so if they are verbal and physically abusive where did they get it from and what role did the grandmother play in it.

It is a shame that the grandmother - who obviously loves this child with all of her heart - has to be the one to bear the brunt of Latarian's anger when she may be the most sane and caring person in his life. This situation obviously warrants more than just the unconditional love of a grandmother; this child and his family need some type of professional intervention right away.

Amazing. He definitely needs help, possibly deliverance!

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but whoever this boy's caregiver is, be it grandma, grandpa, or mom & dad- they need to take control of this young man!
