The Moody Gardens Festival Of Lights transforms the island into a Winter Wonderland. Boasting over one million lights, the festival also includes lighted displays depicting scenes from popular holiday favorites such as A Christmas Story and Toyland. Other lighted displays include the Arctic Express, Magic Castle, and Tropical Jungle - just to name a few. As an added bonus, all of the festival's one million plus lights will be synchronized to music to bring them to life. In addition to the light show spectacular, there will be other holiday activities and performances for visitors to enjoy such as an ice skating rink, vendors for shopping, and the ever-popular pictures with Santa.
Opening day of the festival, November 22, 2008 - is one you don't want to miss. The action starts at 4pm with live musical performances featuring popular sounds of the season. At 5pm Santa will make his arrival to the festival grounds via parachute, not a sleigh! At 6pm, the switch will be flipped and the lights will illuminate the Gulf Coast sky and the festival gates will swing open.
The Moody Gardens Seventh Annual Festival Of Lights will run from November 22, 2008 through December 31, 2008. From November 22 through December 17 the hours of illumination will be Thursdays through Sundays from 6pm until 10pm. Beginning December 18 through December 31, the hours of illumination will be nightly from 6pm until 10pm, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The price of admission has been discounted this year to $3.95 per person. Tickets to other Moody Garden attractions, such as the IMAX Theater and Aquarium Pyramid can be purchased at the discounted price of $5 each with a paid admission to the festival. An attraction hopper pass of sorts will also be available that will include admission to the festival and all of Moody Garden's attractions for $19. These passes will go on sale at 4:45 each day. The festival and all the Moody Gardens attractions are wheelchair accessible.
