Seventh Generation's Natural Dishwashing Liquid is non-toxic, hypoallergenic, not tested on animals, biodegradable, safe for septic and grey water systems and comes in three varieties: Free and Clear, Natural Lavender and Natural Citrus. If you have ultra-sensitive skin or just prefer an unscented dish soap, try the Free and Clear. It really is difficult in this day and age to find any unscented product. Or, if you prefer a more traditional scent, go for the Natural Citrus. As for me, I much prefer the calm, soothing scent of lavender enveloping me in my kitchen as I scrub a dub the dishes and let my mind wander to meadow filled with wildflowers or an herb patch filled with lavender. Really, lavender is such a nice change from the "Mountain Breeze" scents that are so common today.
The Seventh Generation website now mentions that though the ingredients haven't changed, they've improved the formula to make it even more effective! These changes have apparently resulted in a 90% improvement in cleaning and 40% more suds than before. So, now it's super-sudsy!
I personally, love a company that willingly discloses all of its ingredients, and Seventh Generation does! Seventh Generation's Natural Lavender Dishwashing Liquid contains: corn and coconut-based surfactants, natural fragrance (lavender oil), preservative (less than 0.05%) and water...that's it! You know another great thing about it? It's made in the USA! Really! The dishwashing liquid comes in a 28oz white plastic bottle with a flip-top lid that can be recycled after use (the bottle, not the lid). I paid $2.80 for the Natural Lavender scent online at drugstore.com (great site), but later found the Free and Clear variety at my local Giant Food Store for $2.39. The lavender is a bit more challenging to find locally, but worth the search, or you can always buy online.
Seventh Generation Natural Lavender Dishwashing Liquid is effective, environmentally friendly, is not petroleum based, and contains no phosphates. Definitely the dishwashing liquid for me!
I'll leave you with this interesting quote from www.seventhgen.com.
"If every household in the U.S. replaced just one 25 oz bottle of petroleum based dishwashing liquid with our vegetable based product, we could save 118, 700 barrels of oil, enough to heat and cool 6,800 U.S. homes for a year!" What do you think about that? Give it a try! You won't be sorry!
