To sew a fashionable beach bag, you need to start with a good quality beach towel that is approximately 60 inches long. Choose one that matches the beach towels you use or with similar colors to your favorite bikini. Purchase woven webbing in a matching color and cut it into two 90 inch long pieces. A sewing machine and thread are also required.

If you wish to add extra pockets to your beach bag tote, purchase wash cloths in complimentary colors. Also include a length of woven ribbon and a keychain ring. A needle and sturdy thread are useful as well.

Begin creating the beach bag tote by laying out the towel on a flat surface with the good side facing up. Pin the strips of strap webbing to the towel at the one quarter and three quarter distances across its width. Use a measuring tape to determine the correct spots.
