Sex and the City the Movie - I'm Over It

nd
Sex and The City was one of my favorite shows. People either loved these single sassy women, or hated the whole premise about "too much sex" (I never understood why "too much sex" is a bad thing). But no matter which side of the fence you stood on, if you were so much as awake in the last ten years, you know who Carrie and Mr. Big are, and you know what "tea bagging" means. As much as I loved the girls, their unconditional love of New York, and they insanely eventful sex lives, their stories ended for me on the day that Mr. Big. John Big. brought "our girl" Carrie back from Paris. I'm perfectly content believing that everyone ends up living happily ever after. So, why do we need Sex and The City, The Movie?

In light of how the series ended, I need to have some questions answered before I can completely buy into this movie idea.

Who is going to play Mr. Big? A blurb I read in New York magazine quotes Chris Noth (Mr. Big) as saying something along the lines of SATC ruining people's perspective of New York. Additionally, he makes a point of stating that he doesn't like his association with Mr. Big (mind you, this is how most people know who he actually is). Now, this is where I draw the line - any respect I may have had for this guy goes straight out of the window. Sure, he wants recognition and fame, but not for being on one of the most popular shows in the last decade. So now that we know how Mr. Noth really feels, who is going to play Mr. Big in the movie?

Are they all still living in New York and drinking Cosmos? Miranda already moved, Charlotte and Harry are starting a family, and Samantha and Carrie are settling into committed relationships. With all of their lifestyle changes, do our girls have enough time to strut around Manhattan in designer heels and drink Cosmos? Or, have they turned into the burbs girls who get together on the first weekend of each month? And while I am sure they are all still huge fans of New York, should they still be drinking as many Cosmos (there is a line between looking sexy with a martini glass and looking as if you are chaperoning a high school prom)? Bottom line - New York and Cosmos were critical to the series (as was the sex, which I am going to talk about in a minute), and without them, this movie is going to be b.o.r.i.n.g.

How much sex is everyone having? Speaking of boring... Fine, I'll humor the idea that our girls, now in monogamous relationships, are having fantastic sex lives. Well, maybe Samantha is. I mean, we already got a distinct feeling that Miranda and Steve were not doing it often enough. Charlotte and Harry are having a baby, and I don't imagine they will have enough energy to make their sex interesting enough to discuss with the girls. And I am really concerned for Carrie - without the original Mr. Big and the potential lack of sex, what will her columns be about (does anyone recall if she actually has a job, being that she quit before moving to Paris?)? Without the guys who can't perform, who curse during the act, or who must shower immediately after, can this movie contain the word "sex" in the title?

The truth is, while we will always love our sexy and witty girls, we've moved on to Big Love. Sorry Carrie and Co.

Great article. I love sex and the city but don't see it being as good with everyone in relationships. I think they ended it just at the right time.
