Sex and the City: The Movie: How To Plan Your Opening Night Party

Break Out the Manolos and Cosmos and Hit the Town SATC-Style!

F Flores
The long awaited Sex and the City Movie opens across the country on Friday, May 30. At long last, fans of the long-running HBO series will get to catch up with Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda and see where life has taken them over the last four years. Early reviews of the film all seem to suggest that fans will not be disappointed with the film, as it is replete with even more fashion and fabulosity than the series.

Groups of friends who used to view the show together may consider having a Sex and the City- themed night out to accompany the movie debut.

Here are some ideas for doing up the night in true SATC-style...

First off, you must avoid disappointment and be absolutely sure to purchase your tickets IN ADVANCE!

Dress to the nines...and don't forget to wear your most stylish, most expensive shoes! In fact, you could take this idea a bit further and model your clothing choices for the night after a look your favorite character has rocked in the past, or a look that embodies your favorite character (i.e. something classically chic for Charlotte, something sexy for Samantha, funky for Carrie, lawyerly for Miranda, etc.).

Make reservations at the most trendy restaurant/bar in your town or city. A tapas room would be great, as would anyplace with a great appetizer menu (the SATC girls were rarely seen chowing down on the surf and turf when out on the town). Although it may be difficult to get Manhattan-chic in a smaller city, do the best you can with what you have, and be sure to go with the swankiest place you can find. Make absolutely SURE that the bartender makes a great Cosmo...Don't be afraid to ask when you call for reservations. For a true homage to SATC, the drinking of the Cosmo is an absolute must!

When enjoying your pre-movie cocktails, try a little game of speculation. Since four years have passed since the series ended, discuss where the writers will have the characters in their present lives. If you don't indulge in too many internet spoilers in advance, this could be a really fun discussion, with all of your ideas confirmed or denied during the viewing of the movie.

After cocktails, be sure to arrive EARLY at the theatre to get a good seat. Fashionably late is fabulous for every event EXCEPT a movie! Make sure you and yours get the best seat in the house.

After the movie your choices for continuing your SATC evening would likely include more Cosmos, chat and dancing or Cosmos, chat and a decadent dessert (perhaps a slice of Godiva cheesecake?). There will probably be plenty to discuss after the movie as well.

Have a fabulous time!
