I know a lot of people out in the world of writing, blogging, and publishing who have created some really compelling work. Not just popular, kitschy type writing but really insight, thought-provoking work. That trouble that exists out in the vast expanse of the internet is trying to get that work noticed. There are literally millions of pieces of work out there right now and getting people to read your work is the eternal struggle.
And I happen to be one of those writers. I've published a few articles and I like to think that the stuff I've written falls into the "interesting reading" category. I've taken appropriate steps to get it noticed more such as linking the article to the popular community forums such as digg.com and have used the article to answer user questions on Yahoo! Answers. So my articles are out there. It's just a matter of getting people to look at them now.
I was curious though if an article that just includes the popular searchable buzzwords and contains very little actual substance might do a lot better traffic-wise than a thought out, well-written article like mine (OK, I may be giving myself a little too much credit here but just go with me on this one).
So that's what we're going to do here. I've chosen three buzzwords that according to an internet article FAQ I found somewhere are three of the more popular searchable terms on the internet nowadays. I'll also include these words as "tags" at the conclusion of the article so its searchability is further enhanced. Nowhere is this "test" more apparent than in the title of this article. Other than the presence of the words, you won't find find a single mention of sex, dating or American Idol (I do think David Archuleta is vastly overrated but that's a topic for another article. Actually, since he's as popular as he is right now, maybe I've just found a fourth buzzword!).
So that's all there is to it. I'm going to post this article onto this site and plug it on a couple of others and hopefully I'll just watch the clicks roll in. I'll probably follow up in about a month or so to see just how our little experiment. To those who read through this article hoping to read something about sex, dating or American Idol (or more likely to see which contestants on American Idol were having sex with or dating each other), I sincerely apologize. This article exists for nothing more than good old-fashioned market research!
