It is a known fact that anger, stress and worry decrease libido. How are you supposed to feel sexy when you have so much on your mind. You may need to admit you have this problem and learn to leave the job on the other side of the door when you come home at night. Also make time for yourself and your loved one. Turn everything else off and turn each other on. You've got to remember that all that anger, worry and stress is going to develop into relationship problems. One of the fastest sex drive killers there is. Emotional closeness for a woman is key for a woman to feel sexy toward you or about you. Arguments and poor communication is going to ruin the mood.
It is a myth that alcohol increases your sex drive. Yes it does loosen your inhibitions about sex. But that is for the one night stand type situation. When you couple alcohol with other stressors what you get is numbness of your sex drive. All you want to do is drink not perform.
It also takes a lot of energy to have sex. You are seeking your own pleasure of course, but a responsible lover is also seeking the pleasure of his partner. If you are exhausted it's not going to happen. Not with the right emotional connection. If you are planning a sexual weekend, make sure you get some rest during the week. Fatigue will kill your sex drive as quickly as the four year old walking in through the unlocked door at the wrong moment. You need to again plan for intimacy. How about a babysitter for the evening so you and your spouse can have some alone time. Or try being aware of opportunities. The baby is asleep, you planned ahead, light the candles, turn on the soft music, Come on over big boy...
Another Sex Drive killer is a lot of different medications. Which includes antidepressants, Blood pressure medications, Chemotherapy, Anti - HIV drugs, synthetic hormones. Be sure to speak with your doctor if you notice anything different and you are on these medications. A different med or a different dose can sometimes help.
Of course if you hate yourself this is not going to make you feel sexy or get you in the mood. So many people, especially in today's world with Hollywood constantly blaring at us, hate the way they look, too fat, too thin (although this rarely happens), no six pack, too short, ugly hair, and on and on. It is just too simple to say get over it. It won't happen, You need to come to terms with your own image and realize your partner loves you. If you have some weight to lose, work towards a goal, a feel good about the fact that you are doing something about it. Also communicate with your partner. Let them know how you are feeling, that you are insecure. Most of the time, they are going to step up to the plate and let you know how much your are loved.
Something that is getting way too much television time also negatively affects our sex drives, Erectile Dysfunction. Men with this problem worry about their sexual performance or even their ability to perform. And that stress and worry can worsen the already existent problem. There may also be a problem with testosterone. Testosterone levels decline as men age. This does not mean that they will necessarily lose interest in sex but many do. Artificial testosterone can be taken to help boost the libido. Women who are in menopause also feel a decline in their sex drive. Menopausal symptoms such as vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, decreased physical sexual sensitivity and joint discomfort (loss of limberness) as well as body image and self esteem all affect an aging woman's sex drive. As already discussed, open honest communication will help this situation. You may not want sex every night of the week and twice on Sunday, but you could if you just keep the lines of intimate communication open. As well as seeking medical attention with some of the physical issues mentioned.
Needless to say Sex is a big part of all our lives. Once we become adult and make a commitment to a partner, it is the natural next thing. It is a learned art. Pleasing and being pleased. It is extremely important to learn to be attuned to your partners needs and wants. Sharing intimate time together, sometimes not culminating with sex. Sometimes just talking and snuggling and expressing affection can lead to a much more healthy and active sex drive.
So if your sex drive is in trouble and you are not satisfied with the Sex you have in your life. Look at some of these factors and see if you have room for improvement or even concern. Sex can be a wonderful, long lasting intimate part of our lives despite the worries and the aging. It might just take better planning.
