Sex for the First Time

Sex is a very personal and intimate experience. Sex should always occur between two, of-age, consenting adults. Here are a few tips to help make your first time one that you will always remember!

1. Omit alcohol, drugs, and other mind-altering substances.
Why? Because they greatly affect your ability to make sound decisions. Your first time should be something you remember and it should be a pleasant memory, not something you'll have to regret. If you foresee your first sexual experience happening, be sure not to indulge in drugs, other mind-altering substances, or drink heavily. That said, read on.

2. Have one drink!
That's right, it's ok to have one glass of wine if it helps you relax a little bit. Relaxing is fine. Do know your limits, however. There is a fine line between relaxing and becoming drunk.

3. Location is everything.
You and your partner should agree on a location that is comfortable and romantic for the both of you. His place or yours? Perhaps a nice resort or hotel? I'm not talking about the backseat of a car either. Some couples have found it extremely romantic to throw a blanket on the ground out in the middle of a secluded backyard and make love under the stars. Wherever your location, it should be secure, secluded/private, and safe.

4. Turn off the phones.
The last thing you need when you're creating your first-time memories is a cell phone going off. This little rule goes for all devices... computers, radios, etc. If you like soothing music, that's the exception to the rule.

5. Wear something you'll be comfortable and confident in.
Women in particular tend to stress considerably over attire. Just wear what you always do and be comfortable.

6. Take your time.
Exercise some rationale when going into first-time sex. Are you sure you're ready? If you feel that you aren't, there is no shame in letting your partner know you need more time. If you are ready, proceed slowly. You won't want to rush. There will be less discomfort if you ease into things. Go with the flow.. sex is a natural act and should feel natural.

7. Protect yourself!
If you are not ready to start your family now, it is important to use proper protective measures such as birth control, condoms, or other contraceptive. Condoms help protect against some, but not all, sexually transmitted diseases. Birth Control pills do not protect against sexually transmitted disease, it only helps prevent pregnancy.

8. Come prepared.
Have a hand towel next to the bed just in case you need it. You may also opt for other preparations such as gels, lubricants, toys, etc. Don't forget your warm blanket for snuggling afterwards!

9. Communicate!
Probably one of the best pieces of advice for any couple, is to simply communicate! Before, during, after. Good communication will ensure that your partner is aware of anything going on in your head, or with your body.

10. Enjoy the moment!
Your first-time is your first time because it's your.. well.. first time! Try to enjoy this new experience and savor all of the feelings, emotions, and passions involved!

And having a wedding ring would be a real bonus.
