Sex to Induce Labor

As you get closer to the last days of your pregnancy, you may be becoming more and more eager to meet your little miracle. Not to mention you're probably tired of being so huge and want to start the actual phase of motherhood. At this point thoughts of inducing your labor will come to mind and how you can go about accomplishing that. To be on the safe side for your baby and yourself don't even think about inducing your labor untill you are forty weeks or overdue. The reason to wait this long is because your pregnancy due date can be inaccuarate and the last thing you want to do is bring you baby into this world when they may not be ready to physically survive on their own. Also please remember to consult with your practioner and get the go ahead.

Now sex in my opinion is one of the most pleasurable ways to induce labor. Most women who are pregnant are already constantly aroused and want sex, especially in the second and third trimesters. The reason being is that orgasms are much different during pregnancy and can become very powerful. Most pregnant women become very orgasmic during their pregnancy due to increased fluids in the area of the clitoris and vagina making it very sensitive. Not to mention an orgasm achieved from sex is not only good for the mother but also the baby, because even though the baby is unaware of what you are doing they do experience the euphoric hormone rush that you experience with an orgasm during sex. Some pregnant women have even reported that in their third trimester they actually feel more sexually frustrated even after multiple orgasms because they want and need more.

Now because many women find sex pleasurable and can't keep their hands off their partner during pregnancy, sex comes highly recommended to induce labor. Not to mention I can see why it's such a popular choice because it's either have sex or drink castor oil which gives you diarrhea, walk around the block which can seem like eternity and very painful for you already swollen feet, or eat spicy food when heartburn is at its worst. Personally I chose sex and sure enough within the hour my contractions started. The real scientific explanation on why sex works is because the human sperm contains the hormone Prostaglandin which is believed to stimulate the cervix and help start contractions.

Another way to induce labor which is related to sex is nipple stimulation. In many cases this will lead to sex. Now the method to nipple stimulation is either you or your partner massage your nipples as you would in foreplay. This stimulation releases oxytocin in your body. Now oxytocin does not guarantee labor but it does cause contractions which can evolve into labor.
