Sex Offender Daniel Snay and the Lottery

Sex offenders, I hate them. To prey on a person(s) and ruin their life or lives is unimaginable. So, in Daniel Snay won the lottery and the citizens of this great nation thinks that he should not be allowed to keep the winnings based on his prior conviction. I say, yes, he should be able to keep his winnings. I know I will be hated for this, but who cares?

My first reason is it is not against the law for a convict to buy or win money off the lottery. If you start this with Daniel Snay, then you who have to go back an check every lottery winner to see if they are a convict. Who has the time, manpower, or money to invest in such a event. I feel we waste American fund on needless issue to begin with, why add another one.

My second reason is he won fair and square, it is not as if he stole the ticket from some little old lady and cashed it in. He paid $20 for the ticket and won $10 million. If he has paid his debt (meaning prison time) to society then leave him alone. Paying your debt (prison time) to society is all we require of criminals afterwards we according to the law(paper) they get to rejoin society. He has rejoined society and got lucky.

I did hear on one news station that he should pay his victims for their suffering. I agree but to a point. I do not think they should recieve millions of dollars becasue that is not going to take the pains of the event or the court trail away. It will in fact pay for their therapy sessions that they probably need.

I personally think he should have never been released from prison and that way he would not have had the chance to win the lottery. But that is not how it happened he was released and won $10 million dollars. He should be able to keep the claim the money.

Based on the law he is allowed to keep the money but in the country at a price.

Here's another female sex offender: "Leah Swalley recently completed a two and a half year sentence. He had a prior conviction in 1996 after being accused of fondling four of his neighbors -- three girls and a boy -- whose ages ranged from 6 to 8. "
