Sexy Bedhead: Tips and Tricks to Achieve This Look at Home

Creating a sexy, tousled 'bedhead' hairstyle is the easiest 'do you can create at home. To get the sexy hair style that is favored by celebs such as Nicole Ritchie, all it takes is a few simple tricks and inexpensive styling products. Here are a few style tips on how I personally achieve the bedhead look at home.

Shoulder Length to Long Hair

If you have long hair such as I do, the best way to create a bedhead look is to prepare the night before. Wash your hair in the evening then blow dry it for about 3 minutes or so until it is soft and damp. Pull the top part of your hair up half way and tie it with a rubber band. Next, pull the hair thru the loop into a 'dewdrop', and then do the same for the hair on the bottom. You will now have two mini buns in place. Now, All you need to do is go to sleep with the two mini buns in and let them air dry over night. The next morning, pull off the rubber bands and gently shake your hair out. During the course of the night, your hair will have become wavy and thick. You have now created some enhanced 'bedhead' and all you need to do now is run your fingers through your hair to brush it out, then part and style it however you wish. Small wire headbands look great with a beadhead hairstyle, as do small clips and jeweled bobby pins.

Short and Chin Length Hair

For gals with short hair, achieving the bedhead look is very easy. Blow dry your hair until it is soft and damp, and then take about a handful of styling gel and rub it all through out your hair. Do not brush or style it, but let it air dry mussed about. When your hair is completely dry, take a small comb and brush out anything that sticks way out. Leave the rest of your hair as is and style as desired. If you have a very short, pixie style hairdo, the bedhead look is as easy as applying gel to dry hair and then scrunching it up. My favorite brand of styling gel is by Paul Mitchell, and this can be found at any drugstore such as CVS for reasonable prices.

Finally, if you really want to be authentic, when you wake up first thing in the mornings, pull your unbrushed hair into a messy ponytail and you will have genuine bedhead for the rest of the day!
