Can't find that something special to buy for your guy? Do you want something unique and flirty that will tempt his palate? Whether it is his birthday, your anniversary, Valentine's Day, Sweetest Day or "just because" these cookies will show you are thinking of him. What man doesn't like a gift homemade with love?
You can use your favorite cut-out cookie recipe. Or even buy the premade rolls of dough in the store to save time. (We won't tell!) If you don't have a recipe follow the one below:
Old-Fashioned Cut-Out Cookies
INGREDIENTS
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
- Sift flour into large mixing bowl. Resift with salt, soda, baking powder and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, cream the butter or margarine with sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix well. Add butter mixture to dry ingredients alternately with sour cream, mixing until smooth after each addition. Add vanilla. Wrap dough in waxed paper and chill until firm enough to roll, about 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F 150 degrees C. Roll dough on floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut with large cookie cutter; place on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Sprinkle with sugar and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Or skip sugar and bake. When cool, frost.
