Shades of Pink for a Romantic Wedding

Christine Bude Nyholm
Pink is a soft romantic color, making it the perfect choice for a wedding. The gentle hue is becoming increasingly popular for bridal gowns, according to Brides Magazine. Pink is especially fitting for spring weddings and Valentine's Day weddings. Brides may choose to wear a pink gown, or they may add pink to the wedding with accessories and decorations.

The wedding is not just about the bride though. The groom needs to be considered so that the look of the wedding is not too frilly and girly. A wedding color scheme of pink and white or ivory is a soft and elegant look. The groom and groomsmen wearing gray or black tuxedos set off the feminine pink to best advantage.

Pink is a Romantic Hue that Flatters Every Complexion

Pink is a color that is associated with purity, love, romance, grace, innocence and good health. The color and its healthful associations make it seem like an auspicious start to a new marriage.

Pink has the distinction of being a color that is flattering to every complexion, fair or dark. The color seems to bring out the best in everybody.

Pink Wedding Dress

Wedding dresses have traditionally been white or ivory for decades. Pastel shades have been increasing in popularity. Pink for Brides is an initiative that benefits breast cancer research. A portion of the sale price of the gowns is donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Pink gowns come in a variety of hues, from very pale to a more vivid rose or magenta. Gowns of ivory that are trimmed with pink edging, sashes or lace are romantic and elegant. A white gown with a sash the shade of vivid magenta adds excitement to the pink wedding look.

Bridesmaid Dresses

Pink for bridesmaids is a traditional look that looks wonderful next to the bride's gown of ivory or white. An all pink wedding can be achieved by having the bridesmaids wear a different shade of pink. Perhaps the bride can wear a pale pink and the bridesmaids wear a slightly darker shade.

Flowers

Floral bouquets for a pink wedding should be easy to find. A bouquet of pink roses and white baby's breath looks lovely. Calla lilies and orchids look wonderful on their own or combined with pink roses. Consider setting off the pink flowers with a touch of lavender or purple, for more color. The men in the wedding party should wear pink boutonnières that coordinate with the wedding flowers.

Table Setting

White or ivory tablecloths look elegant on the table. A table runner of pale pink that coordinates with the wedding colors ties the table in with the style of the wedding party.

Centerpiece

The centerpiece arrangements can consist of pink roses or floral arrangement in shades of pink. Candles in different shades of pink look wonderful on the table.

Wedding Cake

Have the wedding cake frosted in pale pink or decorated with pink trim. Consider a frosting flavored with raspberry, strawberry, pomegranate or cherry. These fruit flavors go well with chocolate or vanilla. As an alternative, consider a refreshing lemon cake to add a bit of tang to the dessert. A black forest torte, with layers of chocolate cake and cherries is a delicious and unique choice.

Pink Wedding Favors

Small remembrances in pink may consist of votive candles, boxes of candy wrapped in pink, or pink candy hearts wrapped in pink tulle.

Pink Invitations

Set the tone for the pink wedding by sending out pink invitations.

Guest Book

A guest book with a pink cover or pink trim, that guests can sign, is a lovely remembrance.
