Shadow Caster

Always Away from the Light

Charles
I cast a shadow today
on the floor, on the wall
on the ceiling, and in the porch
even in the hall
I cast a shadowy mess everywhere I go
everywhere I go I see such digestion of light by dark
I can't stand this stuff it causes me problems
I can't see in my shadow I can't think in my shadow
I can't be in my shadow I can't pee in my shadow
My shadow always points away from the light
When it gets dark I can't fuss I can't fight
I turn on the lights and the shadows are cast
Reminds me of fishing effortless as I cast
My shadow is dark my shadow is mean
My shadow is pure but my shadow is not me
My shadow runs from my foot to yours
For every time I think about it I am bored, bored, bored
It complicates things this dark version of me
It makes me think how can all of this be
I am responsible for all of this darkness
I can't be responsible for all of this mess
So I keep my eye on it I keep it in check
When the lights go on what do you expect
I go to bed quickly right away
just so indisputably I can say
I certainly must not be but I am for sure
Afraid of my shadow it's in my nature
