Shake the Pilot Furlough Blues and Supercharge Your Pilot Income

Pilots Really Excel at Businesses that Require Process Discipline

Pilot furloughs and reduced pilot incomes are not a fun topic. I wanted to share some insight from my personal experiences.

In 1998 I made the decision to leave the USAF after 14 years of flying arguably one the finest machines of its day, the F-15 Eagle. I did not pursue a career in the airlines and I did not attempt to keep the clock ticking on retirement by joining the Reserves or Air National Guard. I made a clean cut to Corporate America. Although I have not personally been affected by reduced pilot income and risk of a pilot furlough, I have family members and friends that have been significantly impacted.

Today the pilot income opportunities are not as prestigious as they once were even for those fortunate enough to secure and hold high enough positions with a major carrier. Union rhetoric and management diatribe aside, most pilots I know are not promoting to Captain as fast and many have taken substantial pay reductions as a measure to preserve pension funds. Pilot furloughs are still a reality and it will be quite some time before pilot incomes recapture a fraction of their losses.

This does not mean you should throw all dreams aside and pursue the career path of a gumshoe. Continue your flying career, as it is the most fun you can have with your pants on, but diversify your income streams while mitigating risk and maintaining control of your time freedom.

If your pilot income is on a shallow decent or you are worried about a pilot furlough over the horizon, take action. I have found that pilots excel in home based businesses that deal with internet marketing. You do not need a product to sell. You do not need to know how to build a website or blog. All you need is about 5-10 hours a week and a strong drive to make money. There is no start up costs; you work at your pace. The internet has changed consumer habits. Think about the power of Google! Every day someone is using a search engine to find out more about something. There is big business in matching the person searching with the person selling. By performing that small service, you get a piece of the action.

Since leaving the Air Force I have made more money at home than I thought was possible. Initially I struggled and was very skeptical. Then I made my first sale playing around with online marketing via the internet. Wow! What a windfall that has been since.

Reduced pilot income and increased threat of pilot furlough may be today's reality, but there are things you can do. The key is to find a system that is proven and execute the steps. Pilots do this very well. The best system I have found is Wealthy Affiliate University. There are tutorials, forums and even step by step methodology to ensure your success.

Shake the pilot furlough blues and supercharge your pilot income by thinking outside the box. The rules of the game have changed. Are you ready to win!
