Shakespearean Sonnet: No Value of Human Life and All Things Living

Sherri Granato

Black smoke billows outward and high into space

It devours your being, and surrounds you like death

Suffocating your lungs, and leaving a most unavoidable trace

You labor for fresh air, and fight for every breath

This grotesque demonstration could been avoided

Had we glimpsed inside the monster that grows

But the arsonist wanted the fiery show exploited

All for the value of a humanity freak show

He lusts after the fear he easily instills

While supplying his inner demented craving

As he watches miles of destruction of wooded hills

He cares not that he is inexplicably misbehaving

As he destroys, this creature shows no failure to thrive

He only seeks to feed his internal engine by watching people die.
