Shakesperean Sonnet: Pleasure or Love?

Cathy A Montville
What darkness warps your soul to depart love?
Such folly strips the reward from your heart
Yet heartless fits you smartly like a glove
No promise in the words you dare impart

Though my denial sets the stage for loss
My death would sooner take the place of you
And still my heart would beat beneath the moss
Where death will bolster love not yet subdued

But every moment leaves me not impaired
So deep the pleasure memory burns still
And speaks of clouded devil passion shared
When licentious lust duped my heart fulfilled

This hollow love bursts so with wounded grief
This hollow soul yet clings to blind belief
