Shame on You Fiesta Bowl Selection Committee

Everybody keeps talking about how the Fiesta Bowl selection committee did a major disservice to the fans by pitting Boise State against TCU. Forget the fans. Rather, this selection committee did a major disservice to these two schools. I am going to be writing a separate blog about this later so I do not want to go into very much detail regarding this topic but TCU and Boise both had incredible seasons. I do not believe that either of them belonged in the national championship game but they each deserved a shot to knock of a team from a BCS conference. All year long these two schools beat up on schools in mid-major conferences and a few from BCS conferences to have a shot at postseason glory against a prestigious program full of tradition. By pitting these schools against each other their seasons have basically become invalidated. Don't get me wrong, these are two incredible football programs but in a few years nobody is going to care about a football team that went undefeated and knocked off a school from the WAC or Mountain West in their bowl game. I can just see it now, 10 or 15 years from now players from one of these teams will be sitting down to tell their kids about their 13-0 season. Their four year old son will look up in amazement and say "Wow, that is awesome daddy. Who did you beat in your bowl game?" Daddy will look down at his son and say TCU or Boise State (riveting story, I know). The son will reply by saying something to the extent of "if you had beat Florida, Iowa, or even Georgia Tech that would be kind of special dad but now I would prefer to go back and play with my train set. TCU/Boise is good but they are just mid-major schools. I thought this was going to be a good story." The sad thing is it is not the players fault that their seasons will eventually be forgotten because of poor selection practices by the Fiesta Bowl committee.
