Shannon Price Kicked Out: Just like Tomi Rae Hynie Back when James Brown Died

Valerie Ferrari
Shannon Price is getting the shaft unfairly from Gary Coleman's ex-manager, Dion Mial, according to Shielia Erickson, spokeswoman for Coleman's ex-wife who was sharing a home with him.

Erickson told RadarOnline.com: "Shannon cannot even get into her own home now... even though she is on the deed to her house," and blamed Coleman's ex-manager Dion Mial for this turn of events. She said that Price will "absolutely" contest the will.

Handwritten Codicil Claim

According to Erickson, there is a hand-written codicil to the 1999 Will that originally named Dion executor, but she does not say whether the codicil appoints Shannon Price as the executor and changes the beneficiaries of the Will. All Erickson says is that they have retained a high-profile lawyer and that Shannon "doesn't want everything to go to Dion."

"... We have enough documentation that shows that everything will go to Shannon," Erickson averred and went on to state that Dion Mial got the money to hire Kent Alderman as his attorney from Shannon Price, then double-crossed her:

"It was all the money Shannon had... she wanted to make sure that Gary's wishes were respected. She was hoping Dion would be able to assist in keeping Gary's body here [in Utah]."

Erickson also pointed out that Gary and Dion had not been friends for years. Indeed there were rumors back in the day that Dion Mial's friendship with Gary Coleman ended because he had used and abused the diminutive star of "Diff'rent Strokes."

When the High-Powered Attorneys Show Up

All this is somewhat reminiscent of what happened after James Brown passed away. The marital status of Tomi Ray Hynie, the woman James Brown was telling everyone was his wife, was challenged. The paternity of their child, little James Brown II, was questioned and James Brown's remains were left unburied for over two months. I was covering that story back in 2007, and in my article Tomi Rae: James Brown's Widow or Not?, there are some indications of how Shannon Price can expect to be treated throughout this ordeal.

Tomi Rae and her son weren't mentioned at all in James Brown's Will but were eventually awarded a share in the estate. Little James Brown II turns 9 years old this Friday on June 11, 2010.

There will be a lot of mud-slinging but the thing is to watch is in which direction the mud is flying. Right now a lot of it is flying in Shannon Price's direction, but if they dig up those old stories about Gary and Dion, it may start flying in a different direction.

Did she or didn't she? The media is a cruel task master, putting words and deeds in people's mouths and actions. If she did, shame on her. If the media is up to their old disgusting tricks then shame on them but there I feel my words are wasted.

It's amazing that even in death, Coleman can't even be respected. It's disgusting and disheartening and not to get too morbid, but it just makes me wonder what kind of hope there is for someone like me after I'm gone. At least I'm not famous enough that anyone will pay for photos of my corpse.

uh, no, we're not a high-powered celebrity firm, but we did have a handwritten will case not too long ago, where a do-it-yourself will was not properly executed so it was declared invalid by the court. And Mark's right, the lawyers will benefit if there's anything to take - in the James Brown case, that Debra Opri woman was sending out some outrageous bills! She also represented Larry Birkhead.
