Shaquille O'Neal: When a Giant Goes Too Far

S. E. Masters
BREAKING NEWS: It's official. Shaquille O'Neal is now the enemy. The giant has cursed the most high defending champions. He has declared war on Los Angeles and their precious Lakers by signing with the Boston Celtics. Lakers brass will respond by sending the Kobe lead Lakers to invade Boston next June 2011, in games 3, 4 & 5 of the NBA Finals in the grudge match. LA in six.

Shaq's former [Lakers] number 33 may never be retired to the rafters at the Staples Center. Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher, and even Spark's Lisa Leslie whose number was just hoisted up last night, won't share the wall with Shaq anytime soon. Additionally, the fact that he was likely neighbors with a Superior court judge or two while a resident of Beverly Hills, could mean curtains for Shaq during divorce court proceeding in Los Angeles.

But let's not excuse the strategy of the Celtic's front office. They're enjoying the fact that Shaq has no loyalty to the Lakers, and that a trip to the finals for the second consecutive year against LA is all but sealed. Shaq will have an emotional role that should favor Boston if that happens. But the "Big Shamrock" has lost a lot of love in LA now. His once loyal fans have turned away, and will dare Mickey D's to offer Shamrock shakes next March.

I appreciate the love. Not sure how to file, but am no where near the sports expert that you are Alfonso.

Damn great article, a great sports blurb dealing with Shaq's misconception that he can actually still play, huff huff and I'll blow your house down - which we know he will get winded before he last a whole quarter.
