I wanted to get the Dyson Root because of all of the hype, but a dust buster that costs almost as much as my vacuum cleaner was out of the question. I ended up choosing the Shark Cordless 15.6 volt HandVac because it offered the same twister technology that the root did. I was able to find it at Kohl's for $42.99, but internet searches have found it for as little as $39.99 with free shipping.
PROS:
I love the fact that you get a choice of colors. It is available in green or gray. I chose green because I wanted a fun color for my cleaning needs.
The vacuum comes with two attachments. The first attachment allows you to get into tight spots the second is a motorized brush that digs down deep to get up dirt and pet hair. I was suspect because a lot of times I can't get the pet hair with my normal vacuum and the thought of a handheld vacuum working on my pet hair just didn't seem possible. I was amazed that with the brush attachment my carpets were cleared of pet hair. I own two cats and one dog so this is one problem that I am so glad to be rid of.
I often feel like once I start using my handheld vacuum it is time to recharge it. This vacuum has been running for over ten minutes and doesn't seem ready to quit. In fact when the vacuum is about to quit a light flashes on and off to let you know.
The suction on this vacuum is amazing. It got up dirt and pet hair with ease and even got up some crumbled leaves.
CONS:
While I like the fact that there is not a large charging station I am a little concerned that I might loose the little charger that this comes with. When there is a resting station I know where it is, without one, well all of my chargers start to look alike after a while.
There isn't anywhere to store the attachments. This is another reason for a charging station.
Overall I think this is a definite must buy. I would do a little internet research to find out if you can find the best price, but other then that I would not change a thing about this purchase.

Post a CommentI tried a dust buster for removing pet hair, but trying to defur furniture with a Siberian Husky around is impossible. He sheds even in below 0 temps. The back of tape works best around here.
:-) :-) :-)
Thanks for the info :]
Terrific review :) Sheri
This sounds like it would be something to have around with the little ones... lugging out a big sweeper isn't fun!
Great review, sounds like one I would like
I have one of these but the rug attachment broke almost immediately. Great article.
Good analysis
Sounds good -- especially the part about getting pet hair up. I have two dogs, and only one sheds, but she's 110 pounds and I'm fairly sure most of that's hair! I've had the same experience with Dust Busters that you have, so didn't want to get another, but there are times I just don't want to drag the big vacuum out. And it doesn't go down the carpeted (and hairy) stairs -- no outlet close enough, up or down. Thanks for a great product review!
