White shared of learning a different trick each day. White's coach encouraged him to give it his all, as tonight White has done just that. When asked about how it felt to be an Olympic gold medalist a second time White responded that he cried more the first time. He's holding back on the second win.
Most snowboarders have one person at mind, Kevin Pearce. Shaun White scored gold, Scotty Lago won bronze. Scotty Lago is from the Frends Crew, a one of a kind grind snowboarding team that includes Kevin Pearce. Kevin Pearce was an Olympic hopeful until a snowboarding accident during training resulted in a brain injury. Pearce is said to be doing fine while in the hospital.
When asked of how White felt surrounding Kevin Pearce White responded that Pearce is an amazing guy. White is happy that Pearce is coming back.
"There's risks," White suggests of halfpipe. However, White doesn't think about the risks. Having fun with friends and to show the world what they can do is White's goal.
With White's family at the Winter Olympics "out of their minds celebrating", his dog Rambo along his side, and another gold White couldn't be happier. You can view a photo of Shaun and Rambo by visiting ShaunWhite.com.
Shaun White won gold before he even began his second run. His first run scored at 48.4, just 4 ahead of Scotty Lago. The world was his at that point. He could unleash any trick up his sleeve, he already won.
With Red Bull's Project X halfpipe dream created just for Shaun White to practice he came up with many tricks. For more on White's halfpipe behind Silverton Mountain visit White's Tricks & Videos.
White's secret weapon to use during the finals has built anticipation all week long.
The world couldn't wait to see this incredible new trick and the time had come. Shaun White finally proved to be the only snowboarder in the world that could do the double McTwist 1260.
Tonight the U.S. celebrates the sweeter side of this flying tomato, a one of a kind skilled athlete with a second gold win. And the only thing that comes to mind next? See you in four years.
