She Says Amen

T. H. Pankey
Tiny hand joined with mine
Both together before we dine

Giving thanks to the Great Provider
Looking for something, anything inside her

One eye toward heaven
The other toward Ms. Attentive
Finding perfect words, unleaven
Offering up the best words to give

Thank you so much for this food
May it go down to our tummy and taste good
Through your son, Jesus Christ, Amen

Face filled with spirit, nearly stifling excited anticipation and joy
She knows its her turn and its a big moment, oh boy

And then...
She says Amen

@ Jolene Thomas: that's cute about your child. My poem is about me "asking" God for a blessing and my daughter then saying "amen," which means she's agreeing with her father's request for a blessing from God.
