She Wins - a Rhyming Song on One so Strong

Saluting a Formidable Friend, Who Won Victory Over Violence

Linda Ann Nickerson

"Courage is the most important of all the virtues,
because without courage
you can't practice any other virtue consistently.
You can practice any virtue erratically,
but nothing consistently without courage."
Maya Angelou

A dark deceit in angry heat,
He tried to steal her song,
But her sweet spirit can't be beat,
Her melody's lifelong.

He crept in through the shadows deep
To force his evil aim.
To rudely interrupt her sleep;
She'll never be the same.

Yet, strong determination stands;
Her heart is still her own.
The wickedest of all demands
Have not destroyed her tone.

Beneath a rock, the loser hides;
He dares not show his face.
The snake must live with his insides,
A vile, unwholesome place.

But now she boldly claims her ground;
As time again begins.
Her strength and courage are profound.
No doubt remains: she wins.
