She Worships

Having a Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ

Donna H. Davey
The beauty of the day was in her eyes; the darkness was in her soul. Tears warmed her face and were swept away before they betrayed her to those around her. She slipped on her shoes and stepped out of the car. In search of solitude she walked the gravel road and took a small path up a hill. She gazed upon a grove and watched as the weeds swayed in the breeze and shades of garnet and amber decorated the scene before her.

To her left was a lake surrounded by woods and rocks. It was ethereal and among that beauty she sat down to take it all in. The peace was intoxicating and she closed her eyes. Tears began to fall again but she was comforted among God's grandeur. This was just the place she always wanted to find and as she called out to God she felt His presence and His love. She poured out her heart to Him and in those precious moments she was free.

She never found salvation in a Church but found it through suffering. She doesn't have a religious bone in her body but she has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and He has answered all of her prayers and has proven to her, a mere mortal, His amazing existence. He reached her at her level, in the depths of her sorrow, and pulled her into the light and away from the spiritual warfare that battled for her soul.

She worships God when she's alone, while on her walks, and surrounded by His magnificent natural beauty.

She gives thanks for life and all the emotions that accompany it. She believes true beauty is borne from the fire in life when a person rejects bitterness in favor of compassion and pushes away ego in favor of humility.

Just taking pause to really read more of you work. You possess a wonderful gift of capturing the beauty of spirituality and a personal relationship with God and then showing it to others as if they were there, or making it as clear as looking at a photograph. Excellent!

A fantastic representation of faith when discussing the religiosity versus spirituality debate. This so much more the latter and better ! No church, no pew could get me as close as a hill, valley, lake, stream or other solitudinal element, this piece is grounding. Thank you and keep writing these wonderful contributions to the literary guild of earth ! (or something...he hee)
