How to Wear Shearling for Women Over 40: The casual luxury and warmth of shearling is good news for older women. The Burberry Prorsum jacket may be the most visible fashion trend with its cropped aviator style and shearling trim, but there are also plenty of sheepskin lined boots and ladylike totes. Shearling gets paired with feminine silk dresses, business-like pencil skirts and tough leather trousers. Mature women who prefer to avoid trapper hats or UGGs have plenty of options. My best moments in sheepskin came with a full length chocolate YSL coat I bought at a consignment shop 20 years ago that still looks fabulous. There's also the time scanning the cheap Michael Kors' diffusion line listings on eBay paid off when I got a high end tote for $50 that retails for over $1000. And, yes, it looks great with the YSL coat and just about everything else. Below are 4 shearling fashions for older women to buy or bypass.
Burberry Aviator Jacket: This is a version of the popular leather aviator jacket with a cinched waist, shearling trim and zip closures on the asymmetrical front and sleeves. That giant funnel neck can be zipped up or down to show the shearling lining. I consider myself way over the age limit for a neckline that dramatic and all those leather straps and buckles. But, it certainly is beautiful. ($2995)
Vanessa Bruno Shearling-Trimmed Wool-Felt Coat: Much more wearable for women over 40 is this rugged but sophisticated olive felt coat with a curly sheepskin collar and simple button down front. It looks neater than a parka but still casual enough to wear with business separates or jeans. ($1160)
A.P.C. Shearling-Lined Suede Boots: For older women who hate UGGs, these dark brown suede ankle boots have a 3.5 inch wedge heel for height and comfort. They feature a round toe, gold side-zip fastening and cream shearling lining. ($470)
Maison Martin Margiela Large Shearling Shoulder Bag: This anthracite bag features sheepskin trim on the front and interior, a leather panel at back, signature white stitch detail and magnetic closure. It's a big 18 inches by 11 inches with a handle drop of 8 inches. ($1440)
Women over 40 don't need to feel sheepish about shearling fashions.

Nice list, even though I hate to say I am 40 now!
These sound like lovely fashion items, but at those prices--whew!--I'll have to wait until they hit the thrift shop!
Love your opening line! The boots are cute.
