Breakfast:
- 1/2 grapefruit OR 8 oz. juice (unsweetened)
- 2 eggs any way you like
- 2 slices of bacon
Lunch:
- 1/2 grapefruit OR 8 oz. juice (unsweetened)
- salad with dressing of your choice
- meat of your choice cooked the way you like it and eat as much as you would like
Dinner
- 1/2 grapefruit OR 8 oz. juice (unsweetened)
- Either salad with dressing of your choice or your choice of red or green vegetables cooked in butter or spices
- Meat or fish of your choice cooked the way you like it
Bedtime Snack:
- 8oz. glass of tomato juice or 8oz cup of skim milk
In addition to actual food intact there are some parameters and guidelines that need to be followed in order to have the diet work effectively. It is critical that you drink 64oz total per day. During your meals you should eat until you are full (you an increase the quantity of the foods permitted during the meal) and don't eliminate anything from the diet. You have to eat everything outlined or the diet won't work correctly. The key to this diet is the grapefruit juice in the amount indicated as it is driving the entire diet by kick starting your metabolism. Minimize coffee and tee (1 cup) because if the insulin balance is off in your body, it impacts the calorie burning process. Eating between meals is not allowed. You should not eat desserts, bread, white vegetables or sweet potatoes but you can have butter. Continue the diet for 12 days, stop for 2 days and the start again.
Although some say the Grapefruit Diet is not founded on nutrition, it is a means of dropping several pounds in a short period of time. The key is loosing the weight and keeping it off by not going back to your old eating habits once you are off the diet. Always seek healthier options
