Shepards Pie

Emily Griffin
This is an amazing version of Shepard's pie that I started making about a year ago. I am always one of those people that likes to add different things and take things away from the original recipe I learned.

Ingredients

Serves 4
1/2 cup westcher sauce
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion
10 oz can campbells cream of mushroom soup
3 tablespoon ketchup
personal preference Salt
small frozen bag (4 servings) corn
enough to cover the top your favorite mashed potatoes
enough to sprinkle on top bread crumbs or cheese

Directions for Shepards Pie

1
Cook Onion
start too cook the onions until they start to become slightly tender. Then add the hamburger. It takes the onion longer too cook then the hamburger. Which is why you want to give it a "head start." You can also add the corn at this point too if you want. Add the salt to taste.
2
Add Hamburger
When you add the hamburger, cook it until it's all cooked through. You'll want to break it up so it isn't all one big piece. You want it broken up into little pieces. You will want to add the westcher sauce at this point. Add as much or as little as you wish.
3
Side note
you can also cook the hamburger and onion separately then put them together later.
4
drain
Once you have your hamburger, onion and corn mix cooked all the way through, you will need to drain the excess fat and fluid.
5
Add the soup, ketchup plus some salt and pepper to the hamburger mix and mix together into your casserole dish.
6
make and put your mashed potatoes over the top of the hamburger mix like cake icing.
7
Add the breadcrumbs or cheese on top of the potatoes.
8
Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes or until potatoes are lightly browned.
Tip
I'm one of those people that will find a recipe that looks good but I'll hardly ever stick exactly to the original recipe. So feel free to change things up as you wish to what you think will taste good. To me, a recipe is just a guideline when it comes to cooking. It's all personal preference.
