Sherri Shepherd Had Multiple Abortions; World's First Pregnant Man Gives Birth; Test-Tube Baby Turns 30

It seems like The View cannot avoid controversial attention. Sherri Shepherd is reported by MSNBC to have told Christian magazine Precious Times that she has had "more abortions" than she "can count." On a lesser note, she quipped that evangelists Juanita Bynum and Joyce Meyer could "lay hands on Barbara Walters and get her saved." Walters reportedly took the whole situation in good stride after an apology from Sherri Shepherd, stating, "Sherri, I'm already in heaven. I'm in Paris." This comes in the wake of other controversial statements from The View's sometimes to-quick-to-speak co-host. Not too long ago, she publically questioned the status of the Earth's shape, stating that she was not exactly sure if the Earth was round.

In other news, Thomas Beatie, age 34, has given birth to a baby girl named Susan Juliette. Beatie was born a female but underwent a gender reassignment and is now legally male. A photo of Thomas Beatie and his newborn daughter has been published in People. He told Oprah Winfrey earlier this year that he "actually opted not to do anything to my reproductive organs because I wanted to have a child one day. I see pregnancy as a process and it doesn't define who I am." He went on to say, "I feel it's not a male or female desire to have a child. It's a human need. I'm a person and I have the right to have a biological child." (ABC News and Stuff) Some religious fundamentalists have publically criticized the father, one notable figure being Christian talk-show host Janet Parshall who stated that Beatie is a "man pretending to be a woman."

On the subject of childbirth and abortion, the world's first "test-tube" baby turned 30 yesterday. Louise Brown was the first child to successfully be born through a then new process titled in vitro fertilization during which the eggs are fertilized outside the host's body and re-inserted after fertilization. Though controversial at the time, the procedure has since become relatively commonplace. However, some controversy surrounds the process as multiple eggs are fertilized with only a few or less surviving, causing the others to technically abort before development.

Lastly, the naked child on the cover of Nirvana's Nevermind is now seventeen and speaking out about the famous and mildly controversial shot. You can check out the full article at NPR. And that's all for now.

I can't believe that Sherri Shepard would admit to having multiple abortions. On one of "The View" shows she made a statement about seeing her "babies" in heaven. What makes her think she is going to heaven?
