Dressing for the high school prom is a once in a lifetime experience. So, choosing the right prom dress will make the difference between memorable and a bad nightmare. The trend to choosing a prom dress has leaned towards the styles of dresses worn by celebrities at award shows. After all, if they feel it's good enough to wear to accept a daytime Emmy, it must be good enough for the prom.

One of the most popular shows on television, and now the big screen, is Sex in the City. So, naturally, there is a prom dress designed after the hit show. A cocktail dress designed by Faviana, it features a floral pattern on the right shoulder and slit in the skirt.

A more formal gown that is available is a tuxedo inspired replica of a gown worn by Mischa Barton.

Beyonce has her fair share of followers and her fair share of prom dresses designed in her fashion. One of these dresses is a copy of the dress Beyonce wore to the 2007 Golden Globe awards. Designed by Faviana, it features a halter neck and a criss cross open back. Another Beyonce inspired design comes from a Grammy appearance and is a pleated chiffon gown with a fully beaded bust and cut out straps in the back.

A Kate Winslet inspired design by Faviana comes from her appearance at the Golden Globe awards. This chiffon design is of a long a-line skirt with ruched criss cross detail at the bodice and spaghetti straps.

Paula Abdul's appearance at the Fi Fi awards inspired Faviana to design another dress for the prom. It features beading at the empire waist and multi straps in the back.

A Halle Berry inspired gown by Faviana features a plunging chiffon halter gown with a long flowing skirt and a unique beaded bodice.

Worn at the 2008 Oscars, another gown designed by Faviana was inspired by Amy Adams and features a strapless neckline. The prom dress is completed with a belt and train.

These are just a few examples of prom dresses and gowns that are inspired by celebrities. Of course, when prom time rolls around there will be many more to choose from as the designers continue to watch what's being worn on the red carpet and the awards stage.
