A very long time ago, I wrote an article titled 'What are you afraid of?', and in this article I discussed fears. Most of the fears were mine own, including my fear of snakes. Snakes are the most creepiest of all creatures, and I think my fear is basically due to the fact that they are creepy.
To be honest, I do not know what made me think about this, but earlier today I was thinking about my own snake encounter.
A few year ago I was coming home from work. However, I first had to pick up my son from the babysitters who was my sister and neighbor. After picking him up, I had to go to my uncles house but first I had to go home.
Back than we lived in a trailer, and if you are familiar with the older styles than you know the doors usually open out and not in. So, we run into the house and drop off the groceries before heading to the back door.
As I open the back door, between the door and the frame at my head level was a snake. Yes, a real live snake.
I panic, grabbed my son and ran for my life screaming at the top of my lungs. I got about 100 yards from the house, before looking back. The snake had fallen unto the porch, but I was not about to go back to remove it.
I remember standing there, shaking as I watched the slimy thing slither around. I managed to tell my son to run to my sisters and get her boyfriend, while I stood and watched praying the creepy little creature would not go into the house.
Unfortunately, the little guy got away fallen through the steps while my sister's boyfriend tried to kill it. For months after that I was, literally, tiptoeing around the house. Worse was when my husband, who found it funny, rented Snakes on a Plane.
I didn't get much sleep after that movie. However, now that I look back on my snake encounter, I can truly see why it was so funny to my husband. After all it was only a Garden Snake!

Post a CommentVery scary!
I agree with Karen. I don't like anything slimy and slitherly making my house its abode.
I don't "do" snakes either!
I actually thought about Snakes On a Plane before I read the article. Ironic.
I like snakes, they don't bother me at all. They are good for the gardens but I,m sure that doesn't help your fears. Great story!
I am not a snake person at all! I don't even like the little geckos! LOL cheers
I hate snakes.
LOL. Ironically after writing this article it brought back that old feeling.
Garden snake or not....I'm with you...lol.
