Center: Chris Webber - Every college team needs a good center. I want a great one. One that can run the floor, play defense, and help establish a solid front court game. For me, in my lifetime, no one dominated the college game up front like Chris Webber. He helped change the way basketball was played and his skill and abilities are unrivaled. He can pass, shoot, block shots, and rebound. With him as my anchor, this team has an intimidating man in the middle. I will just make sure he isn't allowed to call our timeouts!
Power Forward: Larry Johnson - Hands down the most dominant power forward in my lifetime. I can't even think of another player at the collegiate level who could do what LJ could do. This Runnin' Rebel and '91 Naismith College Player of the Year was an unstoppable force. He played only two seasons at UNLV but he is still ranked 12th in career scoring in the NCAA. For my team he provides speed and strength along with a gold toothed smile and youthful exuberance for the game. Offensively he is my juggernaut.
Small Forward: Stacy Augmon- Every team needs to play defense. You can't win without it. Nobody does it better than Stacy. Augmon won the NABC Defensive Player of the Year award in 1989, 1990, and 1991. Nicknamed "Plastic Man", because of his athletic ability, he seemingly "stretched" his way to the basket. He would bring a great deal of leadership and versatility to an already devastatingly talented frontcourt.
Shooting Guard: Vince Carter - At one time Vince Carter actually took the game of basketball very seriously. While at Carolina he averaged 12.3 points per game and helped lead the school to the Final Four in 1997 and 1998. Most remember him for his outrageous dunks, and extol him for his ability to seemingly fly, but overall a real talented player that would bring another offensive threat to this team.
Point Guard: Jalen Rose - Leader of the "Fab Five" at Michigan this brash ball player brings a swagger all teams need to be successful. His creativity and flair for the dramatic allowed him to leave a legacy of 1700 points, 400 rebounds, 400 assists, and 100 steals behind at Michigan. His influence has left him with both fame and infamy in the basketball world. But, on this team, I can see him as the lynch pin or architect of something very special.
I know some of you might consider me crazy. Right now you are putting together a team in your head that would make mine seem ridiculous. Many of you might think I have something here, recognizing my vision. But, either way you look at it, I would take these five onto any court against any other team of college players someone could assemble. I guarantee one thing as well; there would be no way the other team wouldn't feel a bit of trepidation.

Post a CommentI thought you would be making your team from today's NCAA basketball leading players. In that case I owuld include Vasquez from Maryland's Terrapins, alongside the ty and tylers from UNC, and Villanova must be allowed one contributing member. Did u predict the Tarheel's second NCAA victory under Roy Williams?
I would have to put Ralph Sampson and James Worthy on mine, but yours isn't bad.
