Shocking! Survey in New England Journal of Medicine Says 46% of US Doctors Will Quit If Obamacare Passes
These survey results are another nail in the coffin for, at least, the public relations battle in Barack Obama's ideological drive to pass and sign into law health care "reform." Unfortunately, whether it actually passes or not-probably due to lots of strong-arming, arm-twisting and bribery on the part of Democrats to dissenting lawmakers-is another story. However, the survey in the New England Journal of Medicine only confirms increasingly what all the protests, what all the Tea Parties, and what all the phone-jamming calls to congressional offices have been telling Obama: Mr. President, stop resisting the will of the people and abort Obamacare, now!
Let's delve into the disturbing/telling/interesting survey answers from the Medicus Firm study, shall we?
First of all, the overall message of the survey can be distilled this way: If Obamacare passes, there will be less doctors, period, yet more Americans who will be clamoring for health care services, as Obama's goal through "reform" is to move tens of millions of Americans off of the "uninsured" category into the "insured" category. However, as Dick Morris has been pointing out for months, merely increasing the number of Americans, who will ostensibly get medical care under his plan, while also increasing the number of doctors who will quit practicing is suicidal and stupid. It serves no purpose at all other than to turn the quality care in the US into that resembling a third-world hellhole, or an inferior, socialist country like Canada or France.
Knowing or expecting this, that's why the doctors surveyed answered so gloomily about their prospects after a theoretical Obamacare passage. They know it will be "no fun" at all for them to make ends meet or to continue actually running a business (since health care is, you know, a good after all and not a right as the socialist liberals would have you falsely believe). That's why, according to the same survey, an unbelievable majority of 71% said that they expected their income to worsen! Folks, it's clear that these doctors are the people to listen to if you even have one, little shred of a doubt about the so-called "wisdom" of supporting Obamacare. These doctors are on the proverbial front lines of the health care mess, and if they are anticipating all these grim outcomes, it's time to put your partisan hats aside, recognize reality, and just say "No!" to Obamacare.
What it boils down to for these doctors, also, is the constant need of their businesses-yes, liberals and Democrats, businesses-to make money and not be driven belly up by the crushing costs of staggering debt or malpractice insurance, just to name a few cost concerns. Factor in to those cost liabilities the insane and oppressive amount of loans new doctors have to pay back in the next few years-many approaching a quarter of a million dollars!!!-and you cannot honestly deny the fact that it's becoming increasingly cost prohibitive to be a doctor and open a practice! What that means for average American is clear: hardship. As in, it will be a darn hard time-after Obamacare passes; if it passes-to find doctors or to see them without waiting for-I don't know, something approaching an excruciatingly unreasonable time. If Americans wanted to see what the inferior health care systems of Canada or France are like, they would just live there, right? No need to have Obamacare bring that to the US.
The best thing to do for average Americans at this point is, in a nutshell, what Rush Limbaugh said, and I'm not being a ditto-head about this. I'm just yielding to his practical and sensible advice. Flood your congressman or woman with a barrage of phone calls, e-mails, or whatever, as long as it's non-violent. Just make sure they can't ignore your demands of stopping Obamacare.

Post a CommentSo, if they can just quit, does it mean they were paid too much? I'm just trying to imagine thousands of disgruntled doctors sitting at home and not working, or working at a job that pays less money. Maybe some doctors will be able to teach high-school biology or something. LOL.
I also think something that should be addressed is the malpractice insurance doctors have to pay to cover themselves in case of a lawsuit; I blame lawyers who encourage people to sue over every little thing that goes wrong for that. Doctors are not God and do not know everything, and sometimes they make honest mistakes. That does not mean they should be sued. If it is a definite case of negligence, that is a different story altogether. But sometimes things happen in life no matter how careful people are, and that does not call for a lawsuit.
Fascinating article. It's interesting that the survey was mentioned in FOX News, which is apparently the right-wing channel.
Your stuff is so intriguing. Love to read it. Elle
The MD's jobs won't be so "cushy" once the salary caps start kicking in.
Everyone from $250,000 per annum on down will be on a renamed version of Medicaid which many doctors currently refuse. Taking half a trillion from Medicare will do that-even though current Medicare is unfunded. Thanks for taking on a really tough topic --unlike myself who has been slacking...
That's pretty shoddy reporting. Does anyone really believe MDs would quit their cushy jobs! Not in my realistic world! This was not a NEJM survey. Click the links and follow the trail... There was an AD in NEJM, which had a link to a political group's web site, which claimed to have done a survey. This group is not interested in facts. It's just trying to scare gullible folks. I'm against this health care bill, but please, let's report real facts!
Nice one. David Hudson helped me find this one. Brad does make a good point. Of course, if it isn't fruitful to be a doctor anymore, they may well take up art.
On a side-note, my sister-in-law has also said that the doctor she works for swears that he is going to close up shop and re-locate to the Caymans if Obamacare passes.
Who is John Galt? If you don't know what that means or signifies, you might want to google that phrase.
