Shocking Unemployment Extension Bill News: Dems Sitting on Money, Unemployed Go Without Pay

The Democrats Could Get the Republicans to Agree to Unemployment Extension Bill but Refuse Fund Use

Radell Smith
In what is clearly becoming a national disgrace to the unemployed in America, the Democratic party has refused to use funding already available to move the unemployment extension bill forward before July 4th. They keep insisting that Republicans sign off on increasing debt to fund the bill instead, according to FOX News.

"The only reason the unemployed extension hasn't passed is because Democrats simply refuse to pass a bill that doesn't add to the debt," Mitch McConnel (R-Ky) told the press.

Unspent money remains in the Congressional till to foot the cost of extending unemployment benefits to a needy 1.3 million people, yet in a shocking turn of events, the Democratic party in Congress is refusing to dip into those funds to help the unemployed.

Their rational is that the funds are earmarked for job creation, but the funds were never used last year in job creation, as was their purpose, according to FOX News.

Jobs do need to be created, but if the funds weren't put to use for that specific purpose, why aren't the Democrats willing to use them to help America's unemployed now? Republicans in Congress have already agreed to approve and rush through legislation to aid the unemployed if Democrats will use those funds for it.

According to the Democratic party, they want to borrow money to pay for the Unemployed Extension Bill rather than use the funds they already have, and which they never used for job creation in the past year.

"My concern is that the Democrats are more interested in having this issue to demagogue for political gamesmanship than they are in simply passing the benefits extension," Sen. George Voinovich (R-Ohio) said.

Unemployed Americans want to eat and feed their families. They need extended benefits or jobs to do that. Democrats in Congress refuse to use job creation money to provide new jobs or extend unemployment coverage. What's up with that?

How can we turn our backs on the unemployed while we fund the war, Israel, Palestine, Haiti, Europe and every other country? Our Politicians need to feel our pain. We need to have a Flat Tax code and term limits in congress!

PART 2... saves the taxpayers $113 billion in

unnecessary spending by rescinding $38 billion in unobligated

stimulus funds, cutting wasteful and unnecessary government

spending, collecting the unpaid taxes of federal employees,

freezing their salaries and capping their numbers, imposing a

five percent across the board cut in government spending for

all agencies except the VA and DOD, and creating a new

deficit reduction trust fund where rescinded balances and

moneys saved through this amendment will be deposited for the

purposes of paying down the federal debt.
Congress does not like the idea of freezing their salaries

and having to pay the back taxes they owe!
TO ALL DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS ELECTION TIME IS COMING YOU

    BASTARDS....and I am employed

I am employed and I am 100% for extending the unemployment

bill. Anyone employed or not employed that doesnt support

extending unemployment is a fool!! For those of us that are

lucky enough to be employed won't be for long if this bill

does not pass. It is simple economics for every dollar of

unemployment money paid out one dollar and ninety cents is

put back into the economy no other stimulous or program comes

close to this. If the bill doesnt pass it will create an

instant domino effect to the nation more layoffs crime rate

will sore suicides will become a common household everyday

thing. Congress is worried about passing the deficit on to

our children First we have to be able to feed our children

before we can ever pass anything on to them.
Senator Thune had one of the best unemployment extension

bills I have seen yet and it was fully paid for and supported

by most republicans but here is the one reason Congress will

    not ever pass it.....

Its common among the unemployed to rely on the money until it runs out and then begin to really look for work. When hunger and need starts to set in and there are no other options one has the ability to find work in a hurry. Sink or swim. To the desperate comes the opportunity. I wonder what may happen if there were no hand outs.

If renting out a bedroom in the White House helps our national debt, there should be no objection. This is about the betterment of our future. Something has to be done about it.

About the article, I agree that something needs to be done about this. Great work.

@Tammy: I know it is Pollyanna thinking that the two parties will 'grow up' and do what's best for America and her citizens at this juncture, but a girl can hope...and pray!

@Jamie: This thread is about the need of Congress to get the unemployed a benefit extension. It isn't a particular party bashing article, but if you are going to make it about that at least be honest. China isn't a repub 'friend'; China is Bill Clinton's friend, who has made a mint from his speaking engagement there and elsewhere abroad. You are at least correct in the fact that Bill Clinton got the fiscal balance in order. But at what cost? Selling off pieces of America...he rented out the Lincoln bedroom to foreign campaign supporters, no less...and don't forget that China is where this administration (and Bill's wife Hillary is part of it) borrowed money for our stimulus bill last year.

only one extension since 1982 has been funded.its anemergency measure.the only reason the repubs want it funded now is so they can say they are trying to keep the debt incheck. during thg the bush years the debt went from almost even where clinton got it to where it is now. and they try to claim fiscal responsibility.give me a break. id still have a job if they hadnt let big business just walk to china. where did they think all the workers were going to go.
