Shoe Review: Detroit Tigers Clubhouse Shoes by Reebok

Deborah Kolka
As an avid Detroit Tigers Fan, I collect everything Tigers. The majority of my collection includes jerseys, t-shirts, pennants and printed material. As I began surfing the net one day on my search for the newest Detroit Tigers MLB gear, I came across the shoes. Yes, Reebok is the manufacturer and Major League Baseball licensed them to produce shoes with the logos of many MLB teams. Of course, I thought had to have them, I had never spotted anyone else with them, which is what made them even more desirable for me.

Once I decided I wanted the shoes, I began the quest for the lowest price available. What I found, though, was that every Internet retailer offering them for sale was selling them for the same price. Now that the price was somewhat of a bummer, I had to make the decision of whether I really wanted these shoes. It didn't take long to make my mind up, after all, Opening Day is just a week away. So I placed my order through MLB.com. I received my email confirmation on the transaction completion and all that was left to do now was wait for my order to arrive.

Today was the day. My Detroit Tigers MLB Clubhouse shoes have arrived! I opened the box to find the bright white Reebok gym shoes as perfect as I had hoped. Well, maybe they could have made the navy blue, embroidered Old English D a bit larger, but I am very pleased with how they look. The shoes have a thick white rubber sole and good arch support. They are a bit heavier gym shoe than what I am used to wearing, but not so heavy to really make a difference in their appeal. On the top of the foot, the lace is placed through a silver tone charm sporting the red, white and blue Major League Baseball emblem. The shoes also have the Major League Baseball emblem placed twice inside the shoe and on a plastic round insert on the bottom sole of the shoe. I, personally could care less about the Major League Baseball licensing tags, seeing more than one placed on a product is a bit too much. Most sports fans are purchasing a product of this nature to show support of their team, not in support of Major League Baseball. If there was more representation of the individual teams on these shoes, instead of multiple Major League Baseball logos, Reebok would most likely sell more of these shoes.

Although, I've only worn them about 8 hours, I have come to the conclusion that I made a good decision when I purchased this pair of shoes. They are comfortable and, therefore, practical but I really love them because of that Old English D. If these shoes wear anything like other Reebok shoes I have owned in the past, I will be truly pleased with my purchase. The only suggestion I have for Reebok, Major League Baseball and other companies that manufacturers licensed sporting goods, is to make more items available in ladies styles and sizing. They seem to forget that women support Major League Teams too!
