Shoe Trends for 2010

Shoe fashionistas rejoice, as footwear trends for 2010 continue to rise, literally. If you thought heels couldn't get any higher this year, think again as 6 inch stilettos continue to dominate. Fall will be an exciting season as ankle boots make a strong comeback. We'll even see more variations in the popular cut-out bootie in creative new designs.

Although ankle boots were all the rage this past winter season, it will be the over the knee or thigh high boots that will have the strongest presence. They'll be offered in a variety of materials, like suede, leather and even lace. Also reaching new heights, these boots cover almost the entire leg, nudging just the hem of the shortest mini skirt. Louis Vuitton, Rodarte and Marc Jacobs all showed some of the most coveted over the knee boots of the season. Ana Sui showed the most creativity with her collection of boots unveiling a motorcycle-inspired line with leather-covered studs and fur rimmed metallics.

Details won't be overlooked as fringe, stones, fur, chains and rosettes will all play a leading role in footwear. The heel itself, has taken an artistic form as designers like, Pollini and Chanel, experiment sculpting the heel into strange linear forms. Naturally the color palette for fall will be predominantly black and it'll stay on the darker side of the color spectrum with dark violets, navy and asphalt all on the forefront.
