Millions of fans are glued to their televisions on Thursday nights to watch the drama unfold on Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. Rhimes gives her viewers a deep insight into the personal lives of the characters on both series. We can truly feel the tragedies and triumphs of all of her characters. She intricately weaves the storylines between the characters giving viewers the opportunity to watch relationships develop, grow and sometimes fall apart. Rhimes is the master in creating crossover episodes. Fans anxiously wait for the annual Grey's/Private Practice crossover episodes that consistently receive high viewer ratings. Fans enjoy seeing Dr. Addison Montgomery back at Seattle Grace to perform a neonatal surgery that only she can do or Dr. Mark Sloan visiting Oceanside Wellness in Los Angeles with his pregnant teenage daughter.
Both shows are packed with a cast of famous celebrities. Grey's Anatomy stars Patrick Dempsey, Eric Dane, Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl, James T. Pickens and Chandra Wilson. Private Practice stars Kate Walsh, Taye Diggs, Audra McDonald, Tim Daly, Amy Brenneman, Chris Lowell, KaDee Strickland and Paul Adelstein. However, Shonda Rhimes is quite the celebrity herself. She has a huge following on Twitter (twitter.com/shondarhimes). She receives hundreds of "tweets" a day from fans located around the world. And, unlike many celebrities, Rhimes takes the time to answer many of the tweets making the millions of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice fans love her and her series even more.
Congratulations to Shonda Rhimes on her fourth NAACP Image Award. Congratulations also to Grey's Anatomy's Chandra Wilson who also one for directing in a drama series.
