Shooting Guard (SG) Rookies - Top 3

Jimmer Fredette - Sac - pg/sg

As a four year college player, Fredette is a proven scoring threat whenever he steps onto the court. Unfortunately the guard position in Sacramento is filled with two other high scoring options in Tyreke Evans and Marcus Thornton to begin the 2011-2012 season. However there should still be a good chunk of minutes to go around for Fredette to soak up around 20-25 minutes per game as a player off the bench. With this in mind, Fredette easily has the potential to become a huge source of three pointers for fantasy basketball teams this season.

2010-2011 College Stats: 45.2 fg% -- 28.9 ppg -- 3.4 3pt -- 3.4 reb -- 4.3 ast -- 1.3 stl -- 0.0 blk

2011-2012 Projected Stats: 45 fg% -- 12.0 ppg -- 2.0 3pt -- 2.0 reb -- 2.5 ast -- 1.0 stl -- 0.0 blk

Alec Burks - Uta - sg

A smooth scoring 6'-6" shooting guard, Burks has the ideal makeup to become an immediate scoring threat as a rookie this season. With a youth movement in Utah underway for the 2011-2012 season, Burks has a very realistic opportunity to take over as the starting SG for the Jazz at some point this season. As an excellent free throw shooter who knows how to get to the line, Burks offers fantasy basketball teams the rare combination of scoring potential and excellent shooting percentages.

2010-2011 College Stats: 46.9 fg% -- 20.5 ppg -- 0.7 3pt -- 6.5 reb -- 2.9 ast -- 1.1 stl -- 0.3 blk

2011-2012 Projected Stats: 46 fg% -- 14.0 ppg -- 0.5 3pt -- 5.0 reb -- 2.0 ast -- 1.0 stl -- 0.3 blk

Klay Thompson - GS - sg

Combining proven lights out shooting ability to go along with a 6'-7" frame, Thompson is an excellent three point shooter with unlimited range. Unfortunately the Warriors guard duo of Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis may hamper Thompson's minutes as a rookie this season. However with Ellis a constant injury risk and potential trade target, Thompson could easily be given an opportunity to claim the starting SG spot in Golden State at some point during the season. Otherwise, even as a backup off the bench, Thompson should net 20-25 minutes per game and still manage to make a significant scoring contribution to fantasy basketball teams this season.

2010-2011 College Stats: 43.6 fg% -- 21.6 ppg -- 2.9 3pt -- 5.2 reb -- 3.7 ast -- 1.6 stl -- 0.9 blk

2011-2012 Projected Stats: 42 fg% -- 12.0 ppg -- 2.0 3pt -- 3.5 reb -- 2.0 ast -- 1.0 stl -- 0.7 blk
